Eugene,
The E510 does well for macro. Attached is a sample frm my E510, using a Minolta bellows and 100mm Rokkor-X macro lens. Not an "exciting" picture, but shows what you can do with little effort.

One of the things no one is mentioning here is, when you read the fine print, it might say max of 4 cards per transaction. It will also say that your rights may vary from state to state. If his state does not allow the limitations they are pushing , they must go by the state rules. Montana si wide open here, the card is good for ever or until the y go out of business, no time limits, expirations or otherwise. Gift certificates are the same way. Good luck,

HI Cher,
From a newbie standpoint, I am going thru the same thing. I have found a series of books from pwsbooks.com. This from a website called photoworkshop.com. The have a 5 or 6 book series that covers all the basic info you could want. They also have "assignments" where you can shoot a given theme, upload your results for critique. I haven't gone that far, but I have 3 if the books now, and it has been worth every penny too me. Also, one if the simplest and free things you can do, is to make yourself a set of "squares", like what a carpenter would use. 2 "L" shaped pieces of cardboard that you can use as a makeshift picture frame, just slide them around to various dimensions. You could even mark them to standard dimensions. this will allow you to hold them over you shots or monitor to judge various croppings. Helps me a bunch with composition, and is very quick to do, & I think it has helped a bunch with learning what to leave in or take out of a certain shots. Way faster than trying it on the computer, and is light and easy to carry in the field as well. The books are truly about taking the photo, no pushing of one brand over another, no "this is the only software to use" or any of that crap.

" not used it before and it was still in its box."
You should have taken it OUT of the box so it could see :-), sorry couldn't resist. I had a uncle who once shot 2 rolls through a RF camera, with the lens cap still on, oops

Oly did indeed update the firmware of the E-series to allow for I.S. to work. My 4/3 to Minlota MD/MC adapter should be here soon. :-)There is also a product called the "dandelion" that will allow focus confirmation with legacy glass. it mounts in the adapter. What kind of lenses do you want to use?

A Corvette and a Celebrity will both get you to the store. The guy with the Vette just has a smaller peewee and a middle aged crisis.;-P
I have an ancient Oly D360L 1.3mp that I used to take and print a pic at 11x17 inches. Not tack sharp but better than any chemical printer around here can do. Does that make it superiour? NO, but it got the job done. DO the side by side's mentioned above and politly ask your dad to get over it.

Mr. WEbb,
I live about 30 minutes from the south entrance to Glacier park. A lot of what you want to know is dependent on when you want to come. The Going To the Sun Road, will not likely be clear of snow and completely passable till mid June or later. You can travel most of it earlier, but the pass is usually snowed in. The park has lots of trails, most of which gets regular use. The back country trails get less use, but you need to get back country permit if camping(not hard, just more BS). South of Kalispell, (where I live) about 65 miles, is also the Bison Range. This is a preserve dedicated to the buffalo, but also has resident populations of big horn sheep, antelope, elk, bear, and deer. Provides great photo ops, with less crowds than Glacier. It is mostly a drive through thing with parking. Not sure about the regulations on hiking. (You can stop and get out for pictures most any place.) Its been along time since I've been there. I know they don't want you out of you car in the lower elevations where the buff's roam. They are ornery critters and have even chased and smashed cars before :-). If you're brave enough for grizzly bear habitat, I can fill you in where to go there as well. We have millions of acres of state and federal forest land available. Most out of stater's don't visit them because they don't know about it. We've also got lots of ghost towns in the southern and eastern part of the state that are fun to visit. In your research, if you need any specific help on places or things, email me, I'll try to help out however I can.

And if you buy into the Olympus 4/3 system you can use almost any brand lens on the camera with a adapter from that online auction place that will remain nameless.
