I agree with Nadie with the fact that you need to do a lot of research when you buy a wireless flash system. Personally I went with the new TT1 and TT5 combination and I love. The reason why I chose them ist because of the equipment requirement and TTL functionality. Because of the new system, I have been able to more creative and produce some amazing pictures. I never leave home without them. I love them.
Now here's the reality of it all, they do misfire and you do need put on shield. I was an early adopter of the new technology and before they gave out the shield, I was going to return them. It was very frustrating and I just could not get the system to work.

Okay so I figured 3 photogs and possibly over two days. The parent volunteers will act as wranglers and we have about 30 - 35 special needs children. I haven't quite figured out the workflow for the day (s)

My co-worker loves my work as an event and wedding photographer has asked me to do the class pictures for 700 students. As for working with large groups of people shooting portraits, I have assisted in doing a Marine Ball which we cycled through about 150 - 200 people but that's drasticly diffrent from children. I am willing to rent lighting, backdrops, and use available resources to get this task done. One of the resource that I have is a retired school photographer that has experiance.
The question is should I accept the assignment?

I have a related question. I used Windows movie maker to create a slideshow. However, when I play the DVD movie, the picture is not as sharp as it is in Lightroom. It almost seems that there's some kind of compression going on. Can Photodex or other program play back without loss of image quality?
Thanks in advance.

We are taking a day trip out to Hallo Bay and I was wondering if anyone has done this before (we are also going to
Katmai). During the day trip will they supply us with deck boots or will we have to supply our own. I will take a Lowe
backpack full of gear, will they allow me to fly with it?

How about if you take your card down to a one hour photo lab and print pictures or make a CD from the Kiosk

If your system comes pre-loaded with Vista, you may have some issues finding XP drivers for some of your hardware. Windows XP while is a great OS, it is dated and may not take full advantage of the quad-core processor. Vista on the other hand should handle the quad-core technologies better and you will find better suppport for it.
While it may be frustrating at first, try Vista for a couple of months and see how you like it.

I need some advice on where to go, either Hallo Bay or Brooks Lodge in July. My
equipment would be a 100-400 IS on a 30D and a 70-200 IS with a 1.4 extender on
a 20D. I will also carry a 16-35 2.8 L and a 24-70 2.8 L lens.
I have been to Brooks Lodge and I really like that we were able to see the
bears at a good distance. What I didn't like was the fact that we had very
limited time on the platforms.
Currently, I am doing some research into Hallo Bay, but I don't know about the
flats. The flats appear to be very grey and dull to photograph bears. I have
read other experinces at Hallo Bay and it seems like a really nice place to
go.
Can someone give me some insight?
Thanks

Have you been able to remove the magenta cast? I get the same thing.

When I am troubleshooting any Hard Drive issues, it is best to go to the manufactures website to see if there are any free diagnostic tools. In your case, Maxtor was purchased by Seagate and I found a diagnostic utility you can download at: http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/seatools/ These utilites may be able to repair your hard drive.
The utility only runs on Windows based systems and you should already have a backup of your information on DVD/CD. If the utility can recover your drive I would remove any information that was not backed up and send the drive in for repair.
Hope this works for you...
Online photo storage sites

I have been doing a lot of research on this subject as well. Some sites charge a low fee but high bandwith (uploads) and some won't let you store some file types. I know that Smugmug and Zenfolio will allow uploads of .jpg file formats, but they won't let you store RAW files unless you purchase additional services.
Some of the criterias that I have been looking at are: how long they have been in buisness, costs for storage, upload/download charges, and if they allow storage from your hard drives connected to your computer.
So far I stumbled upon Live Drive (not to be confused with Microsoft product) They have decent pricing, and they have a good reviews. http://www.livedrive.com/features/packages
Here's a good reference site: http://onlinefilestoragereview.com/
