It seems to me that you already have quite a bit of weight in your bag as it is. If you prefer zooms then try to cut back to just two or at most three. The Sigma 10-20 f/4-5.6 weighs just 1 lb, the Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 weighs 1.8 lbs, and the Pentax 60-250 f/4 weighs 2.4 lbs for a total of 5.2 lbs. Even the weakling I am could probably carry that. Just my ¢¢.

It's been awhile for me too but I just re-upped so I'm back. I went to Pompey's Pillar along the Yellowstone where Capt Wm Clark rested on his return from the Pacific. The BLM has preserved the site with a visitor's center and to prevent any more defacing of the rock. Used my K10D and DA 15 Limited.

Capt Clark's signature behind the glass and other party signatures as well as later travelers.

The weather in Montana has been really pleasant up till now. It might be changingwith snow and temps in the single digits forecast for this weekend. I took advantage of some golden afternoon light yesterday.

If you haven't made the plunge yet you might see if LensRentals has what you want and try it out before you spend all your savings on CBA and LBA. :~D

I'm happy to see the DA 560 f/5.6 is on the roadmap. I know it's going to be expensive but maybe LensRentals will get one for us to borrow? Hope so.

Prowled around town looking for some autumn color. Surprisingly, there is still some left with winter just around the corner. K20D and S-M-C Takumar 85mm f/1.8. EXIF sez 28mm but it be wrong. Oops!

Went to Yellowstone 12 days ago. No snow and not cold enough to bring the wildlife down into the valleys where we can "shoot" them. Tried my hand at some waterfalls instead. Firehole Falls along the Firehole River which is in Firehole Canyon. Hmmm. K20D and DA*16-50mm f/2.8.

I haven't been able to shoot much this year but I'm back now. I've been to the town of Durant in Absaroka County, WY. Had the "usual" at the Busy Bee, a beer in the Saloon, and stayed in the Madam's retreat in the Owen Wister. ;~D

Yep, back again. Went to an antique car show yesterday that had 200 cars to choose from which is pretty good for our neck of the woods. Pentax K20D, DA* 16-50 f/2.8.

Congrats Steve. Can't wait to see some images from your new toy.

I spent a couple of days in Yellowstone NP this week. My POTW is titled, "Mammoth Traffic Jam. K20D + DA* 50-135 f/2.8.

If money is no object then the Nikkors will be hard to beat in the 24, 50, and 85mm range. But for me I'll have the S-M-C Takumar 24mm f/3.5, S-M-C Takumar 50mm f/1.4, and the S-M-C Takumar 85mm f/1.8.

Good Morning. There are some beautiful images posted here today, too many to comment on. This is my first contribution to Nikon Wednesday with my new to me D2x. Unfortunately I only lens I have is the 50mm f/1.8D nifty fifty. But when I saw this eagle I had to give it a go anyway. This is a 100% crop. Now if I'd only had a 200-400 VR. ;~D

D2X, 50mm, 1/1000@f/3.3, ISO 100

Some very good images this week so far. It looks like winter has settled in in the northern hemisphere. I was in Yellowstone NP earlier this month and it was certainly wintry there. K20D & DA* 50-135.

Dang, missed out again! I probably would've pulled the trigger. Now I'll wait until February. Maybe. ;~D

Nice work as always Javier. I too like the high ISO imagery from the K20D. How does the K7 work in your hands compared to the K20D with the size difference? I'm also interested in your subjective opinion of focus speed and shutter frame rate.

-

I have the DA* 50-135 and as said it is a superb lens and one of my favorites. I don't have experience with the Sigma 50-150 but I do with the older 100-300 in both Pentax and Canon mounts. Although not silent the focus speed and lock on are pretty good on the Pentax. The focus speed and lock on are outstanding on my old Canon 1D Mk II N. It's nearly as good as the Canon EF 400 ƒ/4L which is reputed to be the fastest and best focusing lens in the Canon lineup. Just my ¢¢.

Maybe by LR 3.3?

-

I just upgraded LR3 to LR3.2 and there is now a list of Pentax lenses in the Lens Corrections. Strangely, they are all FA 645 lenses! Oh well, it's a start.

You can't go wrong buying from Adorama. Often they sell for less than eekBay.

Wow Dave, fantastic results with the 300 + 1.7. I sold my 300 as I found it either too long or too short in my photography. Of course I now have a really bad case of seller's remorse. 8~(

Some good shooting this week. I especially like Rick's Balloon, RT's Sunset, Matt's Moon, and Haig's Ocean View and Puffin.
As usual for me there were clouds blocking the moon rise Sunday night. :(
