With my cameral securely mounted to a tripod, I plan to photograph a certain forest path which my wife and walk nearly every evening. The plan is to shoot this path from one vantage point during each the four seasons, then mount four exposures under one piece of glass.
The vantage point is important. There is a subject of interest approx. 12 feet in front of the camera and then the path recedes about 150 yds into the distance.
Composition dictates the lense will be 50'cron. My questions is what F stop will give the most acceptable focus. I've read that 5.6 to 8 is the 'sweet spot' but then stopping down to 11/16 will give sharper depth of field. I certainly will experiment but was wondering if anyone had an opinion.
As always, thank you.

Would anybody please explain what the purpose of this gizmo is?
Thanks. Jim

My wife, for my birthday, gave me a absolutely beautiful camera case I thought I would share with you all. It's a product from Kameraleder. Give it a look at kameraleder.com

From the various helpful responses to my two previous questions, am I right in saying that, by and large, an enlarged print from a negative looks real good. An enlarged print from a slide looks even nicer! But, you pay extra for it.
And because it's a slide, there is no manipulation of exposure, contract, and color rendition.

Gentlemen , thank you for the feedback. Before spending the $$ for an enlargement, how best can I scrutinze for sharpness my 4x6 print to be enlargened? Under magnifying-glass, it looks pretty sharp.

I have a landscape print of the James River taken off the Blue Ridge Pkwy that I would like to hang on my wall. How much larger than 8x10 can I go without "fragmenting" detail? Would it better to use slide film for this purpose? When at the printer, is there a particulr format that works better than others? Thanks very much.. in advance.

WHAT! pray tell does pushing film mean? Let's say I am using 100ASA film. Under what circumstances would you push the film and what are the effects of doing so?

Pretty amazing isn't it.. I am writing from Washington DC and on
board is Mr. Killick from New Zealand!
Hey Jason, another and REAL reason for slides is they're less
expensive. I can have a role of 36 devloped with mailers for under 10
bucks. And yes, it's fun to WOW friends and fambly with poster size
prints!
Gentleman.. Could you please explain the value of pushing film. I
know I am ignorant in the true purpose of this exposing technique.
<p>
I am going to try both Provia F and Ektachrom 100S just so in lower
light conditions I can shoot at 1/30. Shakie hands don't you know.

You guys are great and most helpful. Interesting how more folks lean
toward Fuji. I have heard now again that Provia F is a quality "all
purpose" travel slide film. But tell me, what is accomplished by
"pushing" film? If you want 200 or 400 asa, why not purchase that
film?

I will be traveling later this month with my M6 and a 35, & 50 Summicron lenses. I have shot Velvia in the past but won't being carrying a tripod this time. Much hiking.
I will shoot lots of candids, mountain landscape, village scenes. All hand held which I will then project to friends and family.
Am looking for slide film which will capture scenery, and flesh tones as "it is."
Thanks for your consideration.
How and what products to use to organize slides, negs?
