Bob - The story of focus of the frame is not the child - here i have tried to captured the daily life in a local market - this lady selling shoes ar the same time having her meal with her kids around...with dark light around the frame and the "cut" feet and the family in light - it brings to me a big contrast - there are lot of things one gains while using wide angles and loose also - there is a compromise relating to the story one wants to tell - if at all my focus would have been the child or wanted it as a portrait, i would have cared for the distortion - else i think it is okay. Cheers.

Hi Bob - Thanks for your comments. I agree that wideangle flash coverage iz difficult - I have a habit playing around with the flash - i could have got the right light coverage across the frame - but here i have intentionally used a SB28 and pointed the flash and camera very close to the subject (less than 2 ft) with a flash diffuser hence this effect. If you see my other frames on photo.net they may be similar with the shades of black around and light around the subject somewhere in a corner of the frame...trying to give a evolving / sprouting feeling....thanks for your comments anyways. Cheers, Asif

Hi - Thanks for taking time to comment on de snap. Agree, eye contact with getting upclose would have added more life into it...btw: i have de same taste..:-)..!! hmm..this was taken in a local market in cambodia..(no tourists around but all local)....i reached these two guys resting on the hammock...i wanted to take both of them upclose...and had to kneel down (me being 6ft) to see them eye to eye ...as soon as i did ...one of de guy walked up..and headed straight back (the one you see in silhoutte - right handside corner)...i still stayed on and asked permission from the remaining guy to shoot...he has happy go lucky kind and allowed me to shoot...i took two quick shots being around 1.5ft away from him...and managed to capture whatever i can...:-)..!!! was interesting though...anyways...i think this pic is not that bad...! it does speak to me..;-)..!! cheers. Asif

Agree...i didnt had a wide angle lense wid me @ dat point of time - whateve i had i uzed - though true - a 28 mm would have given a good flat image...! though i would still keep the black space around - rather than crop it and give a focused portrait image..!

Sounds Quite sarcastic !!!! Anyways - two things:
1 - This is what happens when people experiment using Manual mode even in F5 - it is better to try on rather than taking program shots leaving the intelligence to de camera..!!...:-O !!
2 - This was scanned uzing old dumb scanner

Agree ! Thought of doing so earlier - i thought n thought and den decided to keep it as it is - it gives some kind of depth to me and creates a movement and adds some non-studio natural flow to the picture....anyways...have tried to give a shot on that...below is the re-done cropped image...lemme know what you think..:-)..!! thanks for de comments. Cheers.

Beautiful shot ! Love the depth that it brings and as well the fear ! Quite original and well expressed of "Leopard" characteristics ! Just wish that the front grass should have evaded the mouth to reveal the canines/tongue whatever - irrespective its a good shot ! i like it. Were you on ground or in a vehicle ? With a 200mm Zoom and the grass cover it seems you were pretty close on ground to this cat !

Well captured expressions - though it would have been much better if the face had fit more centrally - the missing right portion of the hat gives a tilt and incomplete feeling also bit of emptiness on the left.
