1.
I have bought and sold thousands of dollars of Leica equipment. I'm surprised it isn't mentioned yet but by far the best place IMHO is fredmiranda.com. Next is getdpi which is only second because of lack of feedback system. Ebay would be last not from a fear standpoint because it is almost impossible as a buyer to get ripped off if you file a claim, but from a quality standpoint.

Leica prices have softened considerably. Take for example a 50mm Summilux ASPH that retails for $4000. I saw them going for above $4500 last year. Now, I see them going for $3500 and some even below that. I suspect after the new M is released these will go up a bit but not as much as before

 2.
The 14mm is a great lens and the 5dII and D3 are more than comparable. I would much rather shoot with the 5dII and have the cropping ability than being able to take low-light handheld shots for landscapes. If you stop down a bit the VERY slightly soft corners go away and certainly are up to par to the 14-24 Nikon.
For all you who keep discussing the G-mount adapter for the Canon keep dreaming....and waiting....and waiting..
3.
Lots of reviews on video have shown the built-in camera mic will pic up the IS noise. I have the Rode stereo mic and haven't noticed but I'll try harder to see if I hear it.

Also, if you don't want an external mic you could try getting the mic a little bit further away by using a stroboframe type bracket and an off-camera cord, similar to an off-camera flash.

 4.
You are charged customs and VAT because that is the law in your country. Here's a website for you:
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/Taxes/ContactOrDealWithHMRC/DG_10010579
Why are we discussing tax evasion? Yes, I know it is tempting and maybe the UK's tax system is burdensome, but you chose to live there and reap the benefits such as "free" healthcare and the like that you pay with your taxes. Quit trying to cheat your government. I'm guessing that other threads like "how do I get a free torrent copy of photoshop" and such would be deleted so I'm not sure why this nonsense is here. Moderators?

 5.
I shoot casual type video all the time handheld with the 24-105 IS and the 5DII. There is no more jerk on that setup than on an HD consumer video cam. Now, for a wedding video that wouldn't be the case and you should use a tripod. The IS does allow one to make some pretty nice handheld candid shots. One other thing the built in mic on the 5dII will pick up the noise on the IS lens so you will want an external mic like the RODE Stereo video mic.

 6.
If you are going to be using the 5dII for video the 24-105 is great. The IS is very nice for the video and the marginal sharpness imrpovement of the 24-70 isn't going to make any difference there. If you don't think you will use the video much then search all the other threads. Also, you might not think you will use it much until you see how great it is. No one seems to mention the IS benefit in the comparison when using the 5dII though.

one other thing, the camera will pick up the IS sound when using video, so get a good external mike like the Rode mics if you do a lot of video.

 7.
have you taken a picture at 85mm and compared f/2.8 with f/1.8? Can you tell the difference? There is a huge difference to a lot of people, but only you can decide if that difference is important to you. I would much rather have the fast prime for portraits and foot-zoom. The sweet spot of the f/2.8 zoom is going to be much slower than the sweet spot of the f/1.8. Only you know if that difference is meaningful. Joe down the street with a P&S zoom might be perfectly happy but that doesn't mean you would be.

 8. Here's a clip from their own website forums from a user. the "Jonny" in the post isn't me:
BEGIN POST: I was able to get a "response" from Mark on Feb 10. It was indirect and not related specifically to my question. The response was:
Hi Jonny:

We're working to clear the order backlog and are a bit swamped by demand, but all orders placed are secure in their queue position and we're working through the backlog on a first come first served basis. More than 50 units will ship this week.

Apologies for the delay,
Mark

I have not been able to get any response to any question directly. I have no idea whether I will ever receive my adapter. I certainly hope to. I have a Nikon 14-24 lens just sitting around. END POST
Wow....sounds like a great place to order from.
9.
I personally wouldn't buy a camera now without video now that I've got the 5dII. I've gotten rid of my camcorder and have replaced it with video from the 5dII. Way more control, and video results are amazing now that they have opened up manual mode. Only thing is that there isn't AF on the fly but I tend to keep it at one FL anyway with occasional zooming rather than zooming all the time.
Sound could be improved but I've picked up the Rode stereo video mic and it is amazing. Truly, the video blows away the consumer HD cams for sure.

 10.
I think what Bob was meaning is that 16.9.net has an interest in selling Nikon lenses not because they actually sell Nikon lenses but because they sell the adapters. I'm just guessing that's what he meant by that I don't know if it is true or not. I do know that everyone loves the Nikon 14-24 and it rivals primes but yet is a zoom.

I don't think that getting the adapter is going to work for most people because of the logistics of getting one in the first place. One of the previous posters noted how poorly communication is with the makers of the adapter are and I would agree because I looked into getting one before getting my 14mm f/2/8II. I personally would never deal with folks like 16.9 based on their unreliable customer service. But, to each his own.

 11.
I have the 5dII along with the 24-105 among other fast primes. The 24-105 has been a great all-around lens but I find myself reaching for the primes when I can. However, now that I am getting into more of the video part of the 5dII I am finding the IS on the 24-105 very valuable. I wouldn't trade it for a second for the big 24-70 without IS for video. I'm guessing from your post you have the original 5d so this may not apply to you. The 24-105 is a match made in heaven for the 5dII for all around photo/video use.

 12.
Your DOF is shallower on a FF sensor with all else being equal. That is why on crop sensor cameras the wide aperture lenses are slightly wasted a bit.

You are having trouble as others have said because of the shallower DOF. Your DOF was greater on the 50 1.4 with your 40D and thus easier for you.

 13.
If anyone wants some real in-depth discussion of the 5DII and use as a video camera, check out the cinema5d website. It seems people don't care to discuss it much here in the EOS forum or in the video forum and there is much more useful information at that website. Check it out.

 14.
I have the 14mm and the 5dII and the combo is great. With the high MP of the 5dII you can crop nicely and still retain a lot of data.
As far as the Nikon adapter, if you like waiting up to a year to buy your lens then go for it. I would wait until you get the adapter before you buy the lens. Check 16.9's forums and you'll see postings of people waiting for their adapter and no response from the maker. Looks like an exercise in frustration to me.

 15.
Maybe it's exaggerated because looking at 100% crops is mainly just an exercise for the measurebating pixel peepers and you will not likley find any appreciable difference in print. You posted the wrong link to compare the 14mm f/2.8 II by the way. For me, I'd rather have AF and a small package than the huge Nikon 14-24 and wait a year for their funky adapter. To each his own. I'm happy for you and your 14-24. The lenses don't differ that much stopped down a bit, which is the way I use them for landscape. At f/2.8 I'm really not looking at sharpness in the corners with the 14mm lens as it's usually out of the plane of focus anyway. Call me silly I guess.
