Hi -
This post will only make sense to those who have a Custom Brackets brand bracket and a recent Nikon - but you are who I need to ask!
Just switched from Canon to Nikon. Trying to setup my Custom Brackets QRS-E2 bracket with Nikon D700. However the anti-twist posts on the bracket are in exactly the wrong place - so they don't prevent twisting - they fall exactly on the corners of the Nikon lens mount body protrusion (for lack of the exact word). Twist-o-rama.
Custom Brackets sent me a (unlisted) part that they say would fix this. However it doesn't fit properly - but I now see how it could be solved. Basically a flat bar that is flush against camera body and secured to the bracket camera base plate.
How have you fixed the Nikon fit problem with your bracket? I'm going to need to get a local machinist to make a part for me if I can't get the CB part modded.
Thanks,
Thanks for the insight - the Mafer stud (pin) is a hex just like the Bogen stud. It even measures within a mm on a ruler. But the tolerances on the superclamp are sufficiently critical that it simply doesn't fit in the female socket in the superclamp.

Just bought a Matthews Right Angle Snap-In Pin 209641 from B&H. First time I've bought a Matthews item of this
kind.
It has the standard 5/8" snap in pin for a clamp socket. It does NOT fit the snap-in socket on my Bogen Superclamp.
Close but definitely will not fit without major work with a grinder which I don't want to do.
Luckily I have a back up plan for this weekends shoot.
However I bought a Bogen Flex Arm at the same time - the snap in pin fits the Superclamp socket perfectly.
I thought Bogen and Matthews accessories for Superclamps and Mafer clamps were completely interchangeable? If
not - that is a real drag. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Paul,
I shot there in June 2007. Pretty stone chapel - beautiful grounds outside. Inside - small and dim. No balcony that I remember. Ceiling and walls are white so great for bounce flash if you are allowed. Existing light exposure = ISO 1600 1/50 f2.8.

I think your best inexpensive solution for D700 is the Tokina 11-16mm. Used at 16mm there is no vignetting on the D700 and good and sharp into the corners if stopped down some.
I tried the 18-35mm and at 18mm it didn't even cover the corners of DX sharply. The 20mm f2.8 AF-D I had also didn't have good enough corners.
Others may have had different experiences - but the Tokina is my D700 ultrawide solution - just don't use UW often enough to justify 14-24mm.
