1.
Marc,
I really appreciate this thread. Is there anyway you can start a new thread? I have been asked by multiple people how I got into photography and how I learned so extremely fast. I had friends' eyes bug out when they found out I purchased my first SLR camera only 2 years ago. I told them I had found a mentor and a crash course in photography by reading everything I could to understand. I literally went to Marc with no professional photography experience (no camera either) and a desire to learn.
Maybe Marc didn't directly say this, but I was paid for every event. My first wedding when I just carried a few bag I was in the way more than anything he still compassionate me for my time. I know a few times I had an issue with a photo and Marc would advise me how to fix it. There was one photo that he took the time to help me with, and the client "Absolutely loved that one!" A photo I would have had to toss if Marc hadn't helped me.
I did recently do an engagement session for Marc's wedding client, I sold the couple Christmas cards that I created and on the cards I placed www.fotograz.com on the back. This is one way that I can be a value add for Marc's business.
Thanks so much Marc for your insight. I am sure many new photogs will love this post!

  2.
This is so fun and I think it is unique. I have seen the "jump" photo shot before, but not like this. It is so difficult to create a unique look with so many in the bridal party. I don't think it matters how small the faces look on this site as this shot should be printed on at least 11x14 paper. I would like to know if the groom's face is in focus- if it is then BRAVO!
Do you mind sharing the lens info and settings?

  3.
Here is my photo submission. I took this at a wedding last week while 2nd shooting with Marc Williams. I was on a balcony while Marc was taking the portraits. I had the bride look up at me as I LOVED her head jewelry- her eyes just popped. In the larger photos you can really see the details.
4.
Have you ever heard of Nik Filters for Photoshop? They have a filter called Dfine 2.0. It is meant to reduce noise. I actually just won a copy of it at a seminar. I haven't played with it much, but on one of my photos I did try it on it turned out great. It runs about $99 for the software, but would be worth it if it helped even a little. The photo I am showing doesn't have as much noise as yours does, but it's the 1st image I have showing the Dfine Software! the 1st image shows the noise and the 2nd is with the filter.

  5. Hello,

This is my first Forum Question. This is my first family session and I would love critique or any tips. I

really enjoyed working with a family with a baby. I have shot 1 senior portrait, 1 brother/sister portrait and

have 2nd shot 4 weddings with a great wedding photographer.

    Thanks for your advice!

Shot with my Canon 30D, all shot with 50mm 1.4 lens no flash.
