Can we use the DX lenses in FX bodies? I seek the expert opinions. Thank you very much.

Thank you Michael! I will visit the sites.

Wouter, already my son has purchased a D7000 in UK and last month he had left his D5100 for me. When compared to D300, I am not happy with D5100. In contrast my son prefers D5100 over D300. I did not try 7000 so far. Please tell me whether the performance of 7000 will be superior to 300. then I can settle for 7000 which was purchased already and give back the 5100 to my son. In this case I will save quite a lot. Thank you.

For the past five years I was using a Nikon D300 and recently I sold it off. I am thinking of going for either D600 or D800/800S. My interests are mainly landscapes. I request the experts to suggest me the best option. I am having Nikkor 16-85, 50mm prime (1.4), 70-300mm, 35 mm prime and 105mm prime. Looking forward to hear from you folks.

Lorne,
Your suggestion solved my problem. After selecting the centre focus point the illuminator started working. Thank you very much for your timely and illuminating help. I am relieved. Thanks a lot Lorne.
Thank you Michael and jay.

Regards.

Michael, the setting is in S only. Jay, as suggested by you, I tried shutter delay and the illminator promptly flashed. That means the lamp is not burnt out. Still I am scratching my head.

I am having a Nikon D300. The AF assist illumionator is not working. I find it difficult whenever I try to focus objects during night. In the settings, AF assist illuminator is in the on position. In spite of this the problem persists. What is the possible reason for this? Kindly enlighten.

Dear Jim and Mike,
Thank you very much for clearing my doubts. Today I have successfully submitted the photos for ratings.

Friends,
Thank you for the responses. As Hans and Wouter pointed out it is the sound of VR as my camera is already set in single shot AF only. When I put off the VR there was no sound at all. William, as you pointed out the sounds were minimal only when the VR is on. Thank you friends.

Off late, I am not getting ratings for the photographs submitted for critiques. I wonder why? If any of the other members know the reason please let me know. Thank you.

Dear folks,
Recently I purchased a AF-S Nikkor 70-300mm 1:4.5-5.6G lens for my Nikon D300. After zooming I could focus the objects. But the problem is the lens motor's sound is continuously coming even after focussing giving an impression that the object is still in the process of getting focussed. Please give your comments. With the sound persisitng I had taken a photograph and I am attaching the same. Is there any defect in the lens? Please enlighten me.
