    Jim is correct, you do give up sharpness with IS but normaly not as much as you give up with a zoom instead of prime. It's a trade off most of us make to some extent a lot of the time. I have a 70-200IS zoom with that has allowed me to get shots I would have missed, but they would have been sharper with a tripod and a prime. That being said this is a wonderful capture, nice color, I love the contrasting background.

    I really like the textures of your subject, it expresses so much character. The tones and contrasts and a lot to the photo. So many would do this type in B&W but it would totally change the impression. Great job.
