1. Dear community,

As for an モold believerヤ who still sitting (and working) on analog EOS 30 film

camera upgrading to something digital (Panasonic Lumix FZ5 and after that EOS

300D) was quite a challenge. I still own both Canon cameras, but Iメm not longer

satisfied with digital one. (Several after warranty repairs which shows that

camera is going down) So I will upgrade it in closest future to EOS 450D. But

    thatメs not the issue.

My worries are about lens upgrade. On analog camera the best working horse is

Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 USM L (100% satisfactory) but for digital I still have a

    huge gap @ wide end.

So my question is - could someone suggest a reliable wide angle lens (up to ~600

USD) for both platforms film & digital (EOS 450D).

    Thank you in advance.

  2. Hey Canon EOS 30/Elan 7 users!

I consider upgrading my current Canon EOS SLR set with EOS 30 /Elan 7.

Referring to article Important Notice For Canon Elan 7 Users posted

11/01/2001 in Sigma's web page as Canon user I'm worried about Sigma

lens compatibility with EOS 30/Elan 7 model. I had bad experience

with Sigma zoom 28-105mm f/2.8-4 Aspherical on EOS 300/Rebel 2000 and

EOS 50/Elan II. This lens had auto focus malfunction and I return it

    to the store.

Together with camera upgrade I consider to purchase Sigma 70-200mm

f/2.8 EX APO HSM with 2x EX teleconverter and maybe Sigma 24-70mm

f2.8 EX Aspherical DF as replacement of standard consumer Canon zoom.

Does anyone have any experience with Sigma "new" lenses on Canon EOS

    30?

    Thanks!

  3. I got Sigma 28-105 f/2.8-4 for my Canon EOS 300 a week ago from Focus Camera and had discovered strange thing - when I adjust focus at 105 mm focal range on 20 m remote object and then turn zoom

to 28 mm and press shutter release button, lens focusing ring turns to point in-between 3 and 5 m. I didn't discover such thing on my Canon EF 22-55mm f/4-5,6 USM , of course there is a small difference (focus ring moves seeking focus point) if I zoom from 55mm to 22 mm. Unfortunately at the moment I couldn't check other lenses in same range on my camera. Could someone explain - is this a Sigma lens fault or probably EOS 300 AF malfunction?

    Thank you in advance.

  4. I'm looking for light weight travel lens. A couple weeks ago I had tested Sigma AF 17-35 f/2.8-4 EX HSM - good lens for it's price, mechanically - excellent, optically - acceptable. If I get such amount of bucks I buy it.

Now about Sigma 28-105 f/2.8-4 Asph as light weight travel lens, but about it I'm not so shore. Probably in this (28-105) range for the same price Tokina AF 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 SD or Tamron 28-105 f/4-5.6 (IF) or finally Vivitar 28-105 f/2.8 - 3.8 (series1)(I didn't find any review about it) is better choice vs. well built (and your recommended) but more expensive Canon 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 USM or very interesting and expensive Tamron 28-105 f/2.8 LD ASP (IF). I've checked - Sigma and Tokina both have non-rotating front lenses,

prices is pretty close, about Tamron there isn't a lot of information. I'm still thinking....... Sigma's quality vs. Tokina's or Tamron's lens quality ? I'm traveling very often and haven't

possibilities to carry lot of heavy photo equipment with me. Had someone experience with this range (28-105) zoom lenses.

    Thanks. Kristians
