1.
Hello all!

In two weeks I will be doing a photoshoot for my friends band. They want to go with a sort of zombie theme, so my question to you is if you have any good ideas for lighting the scene?
I currently have 3 strobes, and possibly 3 or 4 yellow work lights.

if anybody has seen some cool 'zombie' looking stuff or has any great ideas it would help a lot!

I came across this in my popphoto magazine, but if you have other/ better ideas i would really appreciate it!

Thanks again!

  2.
Im in the market for a new camera bag. I'm currently using a small samsonite bag that i got on amazon for 15 bucks, which worked pretty well, up until i got the canon 40d. now with the included kit lens (28-135), sigma 70-300apo and 50mm 1.8, things fit a little tight, and im worried that if it takes a small hit something will break. I've been looking around and i really like the look of the Tamrac adventure 7. I just want to make sure that it's a quality bag, and that it will fit everything i have comfortably.

I'm not opposed to other options but my budget is under $100 and like i said, i really like the look of the adventure 7. I know the lowepro bags are really nice, but they seem to be quite expensive, and some of them seem kind of boxy. If anybody has experience with the adventure 7 please let me know what you think of it, and/or alternatives.

Also, somewhat unrelated, im also in the market for a tri-pod. With the equipment listed above, as well as the budget mentioned, what would be the best tripod. It seems like all of the tripods ive looked at the customer reviews say they wouldn't be suited for a DSLR. I want it to be stable, but not cost a fortune. currently i have a kodak tripod that i got for $30 and its really shaky.

Thanks for all the help!!

  3. anyway, i believe i have narrowed it down to the canon ef-75-300 and the sigma 70-300dg apo

as of right now i am leaning towards the sigma, simply because of the countless reviews i have seen saying that the canon lens is for the most part extremely soft and the sigma is much more sharp.

if anybody else has some input that could sway my decision pleas let me know!

i am taking into consideration what John Hanlon said about the canon keeping it's value better... im just curious if it has the same/better performance as the sigma.

i happened to stumble across a forum on the web this morning where somebody was asking the same question as me (deciding between the sigma and canon) and it was an almost unanimous decision to go for the sigma.

normally that would make me want to go for the sigma right away but now the "canon will hold its value better" fact is sitting in the back of my head...

    any help!?

    thank you!

  4. i've read a lot of things on the internet saying that it is a good idea to have

a uv filter for your camera to protect the lens. my question is just which

    brand would be the best?

ive seen some from opteka that look good but i have heard bad things about them

im really not sure which brand to get

    any help??

im trying to keep the price of it as low as possible but still getting good quality

    thank you!!

  5. I am currently looking for my first dslr camera. i thought i had it figured out

with the canon but then i took a look at the sony alpha 100 and that looked like

a good camera too. i want a camera that will be good as a beginner camera but

also accomodate my needs in the future. i have heard many good things about both

of the cameras and i cant decide. i am starting from scratch with the dslr

cameras so i have no lenses right now.

if you have tried or owned both of these please let me know what you think of

the image quality , features etc. which one is the overall best choice?

    thank you so much!

    John

  6. Thank you everybody so much!

it was extremely pleasing to read the plothora of responses over my bowl of cereal this morning!

my next stop after class today is the best buy (we dont have a specific photography store) to play with some of the cameras!

thank you again for all of the feedback! it really helped.

i have a few pictures that i have taken with my canon sd900 that i'll hopefully get on here pretty soon!

  7. HELP! I CAN'T DECIDE! i like certain things about each camera but i cant decide

between them. i want whichever one has the best pictures (vibrant colors,

    sharpness, all that good stuff)

and i know everybody will say that it depends a lot on the lenses that you have,

which i know, but which one of these, using the kit lense (18-55mm) will take

the best pictures. because if i am not mistaken both of these are around the

same price? i want whichever one will give me the most professional looking photos.

please help me out! especially if you have worked with both cameras. right now i

am a beginner but i want to become more involved with photography so i want

something that will be good for beginners but will accomodate my needs as i grow

    as a photographer!

thank you in advance for the advice!

    John
