I do shoot and burn as part of my base package but I always push albums. I would waiver on your price regardless of the work you will put into it or the time. Honestly if a bride wanted you for 1/3 of your price I would not do it. If you give her "unedited" images, chances are, SHE will do the editing. Chances are she will also put them on Facebook, flickr, etc. What if her editing is junk? That WILL reflect on you as the photographer who shot the photos. For 1/3 of your price it's not worth it. Refuse the job.

Keep the civil? Ok I'll try. You go to Bella to meet with them. You say "Can I meet with the photographer who is going to do the wedding?". The response "No, but he is a Denis Reggie approved photographer". The bride says "Well can Denis shoot my wedding?" The response "No because you can't afford him". Then what's the point. Denis stamps his approval and everything is magic. C'mon. Denis isn't even that great. Sorry but he's not. Brides want to feel comfortable and confident in the photographer they choose. They don't want some random person showing up and have no idea about their style or manners for that matter. On the other hand maybe they do. If they do the volume of weddings that they do obviously they are doing something right despite their 100's of complaints on the BBB. When brides start to realize that a personal connection means just as much as an artistic one then Bella will soon be offering a "$800 Photography Special". Bella is nothing more than the Pros (another cut rate organization) just with slightly better cameras. Denis Reggie sold out in my opinion.

I use a Canon 5d Mark II and was shooting with an Extreme III card. While I was shooting tonight I was looking at the images which all appeared to be on the card just fine. When I got home and dumped the images I saw only about 5 out of about 140 that I shot. The rest were images from a wedding 2 weeks ago. I'm questioning if I formatted the card before I shot with it BUT I saw the images in the camera fine now they are nowhere to be found. Rescue Pro didn't recover a thing. I don't know what to do. I lost a ton of dancing photos and the cake cutting and I looked at the camera and saw them in there and now I have no idea how to get them back.

I just recently changed the format to view my gallery images to a flash slideshow format. It keeps all the images at the same level so you don't have to scroll. You need a plugin called kimili installed then you will need a way to create a flash slideshow. If you have lightroom you can create one from their templates.

A ring shot done on the beach in bright sun which was great for the reflection in the platinum band. No photoshop used.

I try to make my clients feel as confident as possible when they book. My contract states no refunds but if they give me enough notice I will open the date to another possible client and if someone new books the date I will refund their deposit. Let the client know that you reserved the date for them exclusively and you can't give out a refund at the moment but if you are able to book the date and are made whole then you will refund her.

-

Get what you can without interfering. I always stage a few scenarios with the rings after the ceremony. For example, here's an image from a wedding I just did.

I purchased the Sekonic 758DR lightmeter yesterday and I love it. My only question is that I own the FlexTT5 PocketWizard for Canon and the 580EX2 flash. I mount the flash on the FlexTT5 and then mount the two on a stand. I have another FlexTT5 on my hotshoe so I can fire the 580EX2 wirelessly (I think that's how to say it). Anyway, the Sekonic 758DR has a built in Pocket Wizard transmitter. The problem is I can fire the 580EX when I press the meter button on the Sekonic. I've tried every possible way I can think of and I can't seem to find the info on any website. Can this be done or is the Pocket Wizard feature on the Sekonic only possible with studio flashes like Alien Bees?

-

The 758 has a cool feature that allows you to enter up to 3 camera to be entered into it. I guess since all cameras have different dynamic ranges this would be a cool feature and since in the field I switch between my Canon 5d Mk ii, my Canon 5d, and my Canon 50d it would be really useful. My question is if there is a standard set of values that I can use for each camera? Does anyone know how?

-

OK this is really odd but I have an idea that I think can help me in the field. I am really not a fan of posing. I have ideas for shots then through the course of an event they get lost. I have some great shots that I try and duplicate but there are so many that I forget them. So here's my question. Is there a way to copy images from my computer onto my memory card so that I can view them on my camera and use them as a reference on the job? I've tried to copy JPEGS from my computer directly to the card. The camera tells me it can't view the file. I've taken an image that I shot with my camera and in photoshop added a layer with the "pose shot". Flattened it then overwrote the file thinking the metadata would still be the original and the camera would read it. No luck. Is it possible? FYI. I shoot with the Canon 5d MKII, 5D, and 50D. Thanks.

I am sure many of you have seen posters in the mall or someplace that look like
one photo but when you get closer they are actually multiple smaller images
that make up the look of one big picture. Does anyone know of any company that
does this or what these types of posters are called?
-
Is there any company out there that just sells velcro dividers for camera
cases? I bought a camera case with the foam squares that you remove but they
tore off and are hard to put together.

OK. Stupid question coming. I have Sekonic L-358 that I use for studio
lighting. I also do weddings and I want to incorporate this light meter on
location. I know how to use it take light readings from my Alien Bees but how
do I use it to take readings from my 580EX flash? I use 2 580EX flashes off
camera and triggered by a Canon wireless transmitter. I would like to set the
camera on a tripod, set the timer and hold the light meter myself where I would
have my bride stand and take a reading. But can this be done?

Sorry about that. I forgot to mention they were on the boudoir side. She is a friend so it
was a little weird doing them for me and her. I am trying to balance posing, lighting, and
composition. Welcome to the world of portraits I guess. But thanks for your insight
-
OK. I am trying to get a grip on portrait work. It is pretty complicated stuff. Anyway, please check out
my first shoot. Go to www.premierweddings.tv. Enter through the weddings button. Click on proofing
and enter cohen as the password. I went a little heavy on the effects due to my subjects complexion.
Please critique lighting, composition, and whether I achieved appropriate mood. Thank you

Troy - You like Lipton Soup? I think it's way too salty.

My question is in three parts.
1. How do I stop my master flash from firing so that only the slave flash does?
2. For some reason I can only get the slave to fire when the master head is tilted straight at the
subject. When I tilt the head straight up the slave doesn't go off. How do I correct this?
3. If I buy a third flash will I be able to fire all three? I have two 580ex flashes and thinking of adding
a 580ex2.

I did a friends child portrait. Is this better than my previous attempt.

I am a wedding photographer who has a passion to learn studio portraiture. It
is alot harder than I imagined. Loop lighting, Rembrandt, etc. It's a little
overwhelming. I just think you have to just dive in and experiment. So I bought
myself 3 Alien Bee 1600's, two 24x36 softboxes, 1 40" umbrella, and a few
backdrops. I previously went to a studio where I live and tried a few test
shots on my own. They came out OK. But since I got my own setup I am hooked and
trying new things. I love split lighting so I did a shot of my daughter and I
wanted to get your opinion.

Sorry but you have to copy and paste the entire link. For some reason it only linked the first line.

I am new to portrait photography and I am looking to buy some equipment that is
portable and economical. I have personally made a choice on monolights because
my main goal is to do in-home portraits and I think they are the best choice
for me. I have looked and many companies for lighting and I found something
that seems great and I wanted to know what you think. I found a kit on eBay
from a real power seller and this kit seems to have it all at a pretty good
price. But what do you think?

I used a Canon 40D with a 17-55 2.8 IS Lens. The lights were RPS 500 w/s monolights with shoot through umbrellas.
