I was only about 25 feet away from them. If you're ever in Ireland, I highly recommend a stop at Fota Wildlife Park in Cobh, County Cork. The first animals you see upon entering are giraffes, zebras and ostriches. You can't believe how close you are and how many of them there are.
The line between them, just above the right zebra's nose is a split rail fence. That is the only perimeter the animals have. Beyond the fence is a ditch of what I call rip-rap to keep humans away from the fence. Flightless birds have free roam of the place. It's really cool.

This windmill was hard to shoot. There are buildings on either side just out of the shot. The windmill is in the middle of a town, not out in a field. I was more worried about the electric lines, but there was no way to get them out of the shot either.

I edited the location to correctly say Savannah. Also, I did this scan too quickly. The horizon in the original is straight. I'll see about replacing the image.

By the way, anyone know what kind of cherry this is? It was in bloom
in London in early April.
-
I guess that's why I like the closer version of this shot better. It's in the same folder and titled, Hyde Park Cluster Close.

I would crop the image between the two glasses to remove the rightmost glass. That glass distracts me. I love the color in the glass, especially the stem.

Do you remember how long the shutter was open? The image is so full of light. I think it's hard to explain that to someone who's never been in a dark redwood grove.
-
Let me have it. Is it interesting? (I know it's not unique - y'all
never think my images are.)

Unique shot of a well-photographed landmark.

I agree with the person above about the branch and the shadow. But the fluid quality of the water is subjective. To me this doesn't look like a normal waterfall. It looks like a place where the water only flows when something at the top of the ridge (a lake?, a river?) is too full. So the stop-motion of the water implies impending danger of a flood. Of course, if you meant to communicate peace and tranquility, then slow your shutter and get fluid water.

What do you think?

I should just give up on this critique thing since few people answer,
but ... Any thoughts?

OK. So this just looks like a blurry photo, right? Wrong. The
blurriness symbolizes intimacy. Children are so trusting. They have
no regard for personal space. They get in your face. This image
captures a time in childhood when you're still the greatest thing in
his life. This is before you're just another "adult" who doesn't
understand him or doesn't know how to play.

I have a difficult time with the concept of "Originality". What constitutes an original image? I seem to get low ratings for originality, but no explanations as to why.

This recently won 3rd place in the beginner category of a photo
contest at the GA National Fair. All comments are appreciated.

I used to have one of those Zenitar fisheyes. I never found good use for it, so after it was stolen I didn't replace it. You make me want to buy another one. Good shot.

These stones are only about 5 feet tall.

I LOVE the title of this dinghy. It's even more symbolic that it's
in Ireland, a whole country that is "me."

I can't figure out how she's posed.
I LOVE this project. The color images are more striking (in my opinion). I'm typically not a fan of figure work, but this is a great twist. I particularly like the detail shots of curves where you don't see the woman's whole body.

I didn't like the lower contrast version of this print (on the
right). So I handcolored it. I liked the results. I also like the
high contrast B&W (on the left). I'd like to hear your thoughts on
the issue...

I must not understand the concept of originality. I think is a very original photo. How many people have actually seen a beluga this close, much less photographed one? I love this image. The detail is great, very sharp.

Please post comments and ratings. Thanks.

I don't often shoot flowers in black & white. This is the only one I
really like. I didn't use any filters, so the leaves could be better.
What do you think would improve the shot?
