  1. I have the older version which has only 1 slider. The slider edge and the permanent edge are beveled, they hold the paper flat by simple friction against the curl of the paper (provided the paper has even the slightest edge curl). The easels work very well with fiber paper, RC paper usually does not curl unless it is very old but can still be used in the easel. Borderless enlargements were very popular during the late 70's-80's, both B&W and color. You can always cut your own mask to lay over the paper to give you a border. I have cut several different ones to give me a 1/2" border and 1" border sized to show full frame 35mm on 5x7, 8x10 and 11x14 paper. I have also used double stick tape on very curly paper.
  2. For Sale: Nikon School Microscope. Comes with an Olympus eyepiece, 3 objectives—2 are Nikon brand--#10 and #40, the third objective--#4—is of unknown brand. Comes with the lamp that works but the bulb is darkening. Only 1 hold-down peg/spring. All actions work smoothly. Has the adjustable light focus lens and Iris aperture below the stage for light intensity control. This came from a University surplus sale. It is very high quality, an excellent microscope for home schooling or just to have so you can look at things really close up. $125.00 plus postage Payment by PayPal. More photos are available. Sold as is. no return. no refund. USA sales only. I ship only to a USA address. No International sales.
  3. Is this color film or black and white? Please be specific as the the type of films they are.
  4. I use old outdated paper for contact sheets. If I want a higher quality contact sheet I then use fresh paper.
  5. Do you have a bright light directly above where you develop your film? I have used the older style Paterson tanks for 40+ years and have not had any fogging. As a precaution, I make sure that there are no lights above where I process film. I also see 2 faint narrow bands of density at the center of the neg. To me, fogging is much more noticeable, spread out, veiling the image. Does the edge density run the entire length of the film? It is a mystery.
  6. The 80mm lens is designed for the 6x6 format, while it can be used with little problem for the 6x7 format, it won't be optimum. The 105mm lens is designed for the 6x9 format, you will have better image quality with the 105mm at 20x24 size enlargement. The OP will have to check to see if the 105 will actually enlarge to 20x24 with his version of the enlarger, it should, but it may be close.
  7. You should be just fine at 20x24 with your setup. I would suggest using the 105mm enlarger lens at f/stop 8 or 11 for best sharpness. At that magnification and f/stop you will have some very long exposure times SO, everything must be still, no vibration at all, do not move/walk around, hope that no large trucks rumble by during exposure.
  8. FS: M39-LTM items for parts/repair. I am offering for sale the last of my LTM items. These are for parts/repair only, even though they sort of work, they need repair to be fully useable. They are: #1: Minolta 35 Model II LTM body with Jupiter 8 50mm f/2.0 lens. The physical condition of the body is quite good for its age. Please view the photos. The shutter works BUT is very inconsistent. It appears that the speeds 1/50th, 1/100th, 1/200th, 1/500th are all the same. The shutter occasionally fires at 1 sec no matter where the dial is set. The rangefinder is very close in alignment. The self-timer works. The front leatherette has been replaced, it is similar to the back leatherette but not exactly the same. The Jupiter 8 is in good condition with just a few cleaning marks. This copy of the lens is sharp in the center at f/2.0—quite soft at the edges but sharpens up nicely at f/8-16. The aperture ring moves very freely. #2: Zorki 4 body for parts. It is missing pieces/parts. No rewind knob, no pressure plate, the shutter selection knob is missing, no leatherette covering. The shutter actually works at all speeds. No take-up spool. If you replace the missing parts it should be useable. #3: Helios-4-2, 58mm f/2.0 lens in rather bad shape. This is a very odd lens. Even though it has the LTM M39 mount it does not focus on a Leica screw mount body. It is appears that this lens was made for a SLR body. The back focus is appx 42mm. The condition is poor, lots of scratches to the front and back glass, makes for a very soft image. The aperture has a pre-set ring, you set the f/stop then turn the 2nd ring to stop down. Lots of marks on the body of the lens. Sold as one lot, all together. PM with questions. $100.00 plus postage. PayPal or Postal Money order for payment. Sold as is. no return. no refund. USA sales only. I ship only to a USA address. No International sales.
  9. The last 2 weeks of October and the 1st week of November are the peak times for the leaf peepers. Tens, upon tens of thousands of people congest the roads all around the Smokies. If you are staying in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge you need to allow at least 1 hour minimum to get anywhere, Cades Cove can take 2 hours to get to on the weekends, Clingmans Dome, again 2 hours especially if there is a "bear Jam". Remember, there are no services inside the Park, no gas, no food. Whatever time you allow to get from point A to B, double it. I've been going to the Smokies since 1971, it used to be that if you went Monday-Thursday the crowds were much smaller and it was easier to move around, NOT ANY MORE!!!. Good luck, have fun, the crowds will test your patience. RB
  10. If you Google "focusing helicoid" you will find all kinds of info.
