i've been the proud owner of a 40d for the past month and a half and can recommend it without hesitation to anybody who is looking to upgrade Canon from a rebel x series. the 14bit power of the 40d is just remarkable, plus if you do some careful shopping, you can snag a 40d with a couple lenses and a memory card for less than $1900. wonderful investment for photography school, which i am currently attending. several of the people with whom i go to school have gone and bought 40d's due to the shots that i've taken with mine, and have not looked back since. good luck to you!
