what's the "A" position?
-
Do wheels on the grip work the same way they do on the body (let's say in
manual, the front one controls the shutter speed, and the rear one controls the
aperture)? On mine, the front ones on both the grip and the body do control the
shutter speed, but the rear one on the grip does not change apertures.
Defective, or am I doing something wrong? Thanks much!

hey guys,
what do you find to be the sharpest apertures for the following lenses: FA 2.0
35mm, FA 1.4 50mm, and DA 4.0 16-45mm?

Thanks guys for all your tips on cleaning. I happened to be in NYC yesterday,
so I visited B&H (what a store!), and got myself a Giotto blower, and also the
thing called "Dust Aid" (the salesman highly recommended it). Any further
cleaning tips (a step by step on "how to" would be great).

grey spots
in Pentax
I see it. Mine looks exactly like that. Cleaning time? (I think it's around $60 at local Calumet). Or should I buy the kit and learn how to do it? BTW, should I keep my "dust removal" (start-up action) on at all times? -
grey spots
in Pentax
Hi Guys,
while looking at my recent pics (K10D), I noticed two spots on all of the shots
that I recently took (with 3 different lenses). I checked the previous pics,
ant the blots were there. They are only noticable when the background is light
(sky, usually). They are grey in color, round, don't look like specks, more
like blots. The camera is 3 weeks old, so there shouldn't be any dust on the
sensor (with very light use), right? What are they?

Hey Guys,
I'be been a Pentaxian for about two weeks now, enojoying my brand-new K10D with
16-45 zoom and P-FA 35 f2.0 prime. No need to praise the camera here, it's just
wonderful.
There's a bit of a learning curve of course, as this is my first DSLR
("underexpose"?, "overexpose"?, where to meter, these kinds of questions).
I have not done any RAW shots yet (I realize that RAW is the way to go with
10KD).
When you guys shoot JPEGs, what setting do you use? My sliders are in the
middle (the way it came), so I do my sharpening, etc. in PS.
Good idea, or any other suggestions?
What about format of the files and color space. Should I keep them in DNG (I
use PS CS2)?
How's the Pentax software? Should I give it a try?
I like both lenses so far (35 really amazed me with its sharpness and bokeh),
and 16-45 is very nice for my landscape work (those clouds are really moving
now:)
I'm thinking about getting another prime -- FA50 f1.4 (which I hear is really
good) for low-light situations and portraits.
Any other suggestions?
Your comments are greatly appreciated!

The former;) Thanks for the tripod tip. I have 2 now, but both will most likely not be sufficient for K10D: one is a cheap Slick (was kinda wobbly even with my fairly light V-Lux), the other one is Velbon (sturdier, but not very user friendly). I've checked Manfrottos's and Gitzo's at local Calumet: very nice, but pricey...

Hey Guys,
thanks for your comments re. lenses for K10D. Mine's on the way from B&H, along
with DA 16-45 f4.0, battery grip and a 4GB Lexar card. Can't wait to get my
hands on this baby and start shooting! (I'm in Boston, MA, and the colors
outside are getting really spectacular). Oh, and the rebate makes it even
nicer. What bags, tripods, other accesories you guys find particularly useful?

Hello,
I have finally decided to get myself a K10D (my first DSLR). The
feel/sturdiness/overall quality of a camera is very important to me, and Pentax
was a clear winner. I'm planning to get it with just one lens to start (well,
maybe two). Which, in your opinion, would be the best (the best bang for my
buck, anyway) walk-around lens for this camera? I do a lot of street work, and
ocassionally, landscape ot two, so I'm considering wide-angle. Thanks much.
