  1. <p>SO I don't think you got 'high resolution' photos on that disk. <em>Simple fix</em> . Since the photographer is your daughter's friend, perhaps you can ask her for another cd, one with the pictures that came straight out of the camera. No compression what so ever. I doubt she was shooting jpegs at the wedding @72dpi. Hopefully she has them stored somewhere.</p>

    <p>Best of luck,<br>

    <p>It's a Japanese company, a Japanese product and a Japanese website. When you get over to Google Translate, cut and paste the Pentax web page address in there. After you translate the first page, it'll usually standby to do some more. Super-easy.</p>

    <p>One could argue we that we get a raw deal but if lack of marketing alllows them to sell cameras for less, while still innovating I'm all for it.</p>

    </blockquote>

    <p>Good points, I agree costs might rise if they spent as much as C&N, which btw are also Japanese companies, but commmonnnnnnn. I don't want them to spend like those guys. Like you said marketing definitely their weakness.</p>

  3. <p>Seriously what is the deal. You just made a damn good camera, get out there and blow your damn horn loud and clear!! Don't just blow it all in Japanese!<br /> <br /> What is up with North American K-7 site, it is so damn ugly. I had to go to dpreview so I can get some <em>real</em> <em>detailed</em> information on the camera. That is sad, I shouldn't have to feel uninformed reading about their product on their <strong>offical</strong> site. Take a look at the Japanese one, <a href="http://www.pentax.jp/japan/imaging/digital/slr/k-7/feature.html">http://www.pentax.jp/japan/imaging/digital/slr/k-7/feature.html</a> , and their mini-site <a href="http://www.camera-pentax.jp/">http://www.camera-pentax.jp/</a> . I have no god damn clue to what is being said, but I can say one thing. This site sure as hell looks appealing. Sure some of you might say, blah blah blah it's just pretty pictures and what not, but you know what, that's excatly what Pentax needs, a pretty flashy site to show of the new baby. They engineer simply beautiful cameras in terms of esthetics and function and how do they show it off here in North America? They don't, we do.<br /> Let's face it. Pentaxians don't need a flashy site. But that's <em>just </em> Pentaxians. Regular folk love pretty pictures. They aren't going to spend hours reading like 5 different previews of the camera or watch 3 different (poorly made) videos on youtube or bookmark your crappy damn K-7 countdown site, and they sure as hell will be tired of seeing the same damn pictures of the camera everywhere. You need to lure people in with a flashy site or flashy ad campaign then dish out techy business. I mean whats the point having a teaser poster when people have to make an effort to go <em>find</em> one to see? I'm not saying start spending millions and millions on us North Americans right now, but for god sakes atleast be on par with the Japanese site!<br /> <br /> <img title="Wow that is a sexy camera" src="http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/8753/ph03.jpg" alt="" title="Wow that is a sexy camera" /> <br /> <img title="I'm guessing this has to do with the white balance upgrade" src="http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/1682/ph04.jpg" alt="" title="I'm guessing this has to do with the white balance upgrade" /> <br /> <img title="HDRI blah blah blah" src="http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/8854/fea506.jpg" alt="" title="HDRI blah blah blah" /> <br /> Damn that K-7 looks sexy.</p>

    <p>Oh and look folks. Samples <a href="http://www.pentax.jp/japan/imaging/digital/slr/k-7/ex.html">http://www.pentax.jp/japan/imaging/digital/slr/k-7/ex.html</a></p>

    <p>The K10D (which I have) has .95x magnification, 95% field of view, the K7 has .92x magnification, 100% field of view. Is this a wash, better? worse?<br /> Howard</p>

    </blockquote>

    <p>Howard, this is worse for me because it means the picture you are seeing through the view finder will be eve smaller than what you have in the K10D.</p>

    </blockquote>

    <p>It does feature a new "Natural-Bright-Matte III". Maybe this can compensate for the lower magnification. But yeah, like you said, it really boils down to our own personal tastes and needs.<br>

    I wonder how long it'll be till the <em>"Should I get a K20 or K-7" </em> threads start appearing.</p>

  5. <p>oh, thats just the auto-focus dial for single (AF-S) and continous (AF-C), MF is for manual focus. the manual is great, it'll explain in more detail. plus you'll find the adavantages and disadvantages</p>
  6. <p>Hi there everyone. I got a back-focusing issue with my FA 50/1.7. I've been ignoring the problem and using my other 50s (all manual) but recently I've decided I should get this thing fixed. I live in Toronto, so if anyone has any experience going about sending lenses to Pentax for repairing I would love to hear your advice. More importantly if anyone knows the price range for a fix like this, I would love to know that too ;) </p>

    <p>Thank you :D !</p>

  7. Ok I'm a little confused, I dono if I'm just jumping the gun here, but under Main Features it says for the *55:

    <br><br>

    "#1. When mounted on a PENTAX digital SLR camera body, <b>this medium-telephoto lens offers a focal length of

    84.5mm in the 35mm format</b>. Coupled with its large F1.4 maximum aperture, it is ideal for portraiture

    applications."

    <br><br>

    Is it just a bad sentence or just me?

  8. Hey everybody, I got a pretty annoying problem. I figure I'll try here and see if anyone has a homemade solution.

    Anyways, I have a Helios 44 f2 M42 mount, however the mount thread on the lens has a little dent on it. I can't

    fully secure it to my camera. What I can do is force it in far enough so that it actually stays attached to the

    camera. So pretty much I can't focus past 1.5 meters, which isn't bad I guess, I still use it to take really

    really close portraits :)

    I'd like to fix this problem at home, I've tried man handling it, but the damn this is pretty tough. Tried using

    a flat head, nothing. I'm afraid of damaging the other thread tracks. I understand a problem like this really

    depends on the degree of damage, so I will post a picture as soon as I get home. Till than, please post any

    general solutions :) Also, if anyone knows how much a problem like this costs to fix at the ye olde lens repair

    shop, please post that too.

    Thanks! And remember, don't juggle your lenses.

  9. Alright, we all know how to work multiple exposures with the k10. But what is annoying is how it

    changes back to normal exposure once you're done taking the predefined number of shots. I would

    love for it to just start a new set, instead of going back to normal. Is there a way to lock it? So it

    can just start new sets? Right now, every time I finish a set, I'd have to go back in to menu and

    turn the damn thing on again.

    I think this can be handled with a firmware update but, it's getting Pentax to actually do that is the

    problem, not to mention how long that would take. :..(

    Anyway, if anyone else has any methods to work around this please please share. Oh and that

    doesn't mean just doing it all on photoshop!

    Thanks!<div>00PWWS-44219584.jpg.ed1b58bf8b4483b17aca1ae751bd51be.jpg</div>

  10. I don't think it's the focus screw, I've heard the sound when in MF. Though that is a creepy thing to think about... grinding against the back of the lens mount :'(

    I've taken out the lens and looked inside when I press the green button, I noticed a little lever moving up & down on the left (our left). Thats what is making the sound, because I can hear the damn thing when I do it. Does it make that sound on anyone else's?

  11. Okay, I tried searching around here but couldn't find anything similar.

    I recently picked up some screw mounts (super tak 28 & vivitar 85-205) and a

    pentax adapter for my K10. When I press the green button the camera stops down

    the lens to meter, but I hear this weird sound. I was just wondering if this

    sound is normal? Kinda loud for me. Also, regarding the screw mounts. These

    ones both have the little switch on them to make them either auto or manual.

    Should I technically leave it on auto, since the camera does stop it down? I

    also heard somewhere they should be screwed on in auto mode, and never manual.

    Is that true? Any information on that sound and screw mount lens would be great!

    Thanks! Happy Valentines day! ;)

  12. I'm going to basically repeat what Matthew said. The SMC Ms you can find easily for cheap now, so you're better off finding another one. I generally check craigslist in my area (Toronto) or the used section in big camera stores. If you really want to fix it, better off finding a nice cozy old camera repair shop. If you choose to get another, then I say try taking yours apart! :) I got a f/2 M lens and a f/1.7 A lens with the K10, and I don't know if it's because I got the M first, but I really like the M better. However, the auto aperture on the A does make it reallllllllllllly convenient.
  13. Nice shots, however shot 6 seems too yellow. Feels like it doesn't belong with the set. Also, to separate the products form the surrounding, maybe you can make everything else b/w. Its pretty basic, or even cliché, but I'm sure there if done correctly it could be something unique. I'd also do some super close up shots to point out the detail in his work. Other than that, I like the shots :) Looks nice and cozy. Wide angle... anything sharp as hell!
