I have good access to Great Blue Herons and Egrets. This is amongst my recent favorites. I've been working to frame subjects off-center and here it seems to work fine. Why do birds always want to be centered? It must be a mental block.

Only basic editing for white balance, noise and sharpness.

Pentax K20D with DA*300, flash with better beammer.

The wings were clipped in the original but I liked that the clipped wings

and that lack of a face separated it from your standard bird photo fare.

Water color was not separately manipulated. Only basic sharpen,

dynamic range, curve adjustment and crop performed in PS.
