<p>my 85mm 1.2</p>
<p>I'm sure I could live without it, but now that I have it, I don't want to! I love it!</p>

<p>I have that exact set up, only I have the 17-40 rather than the 16-35, Lol. I use this bag on trips to carry my gear around.<br /> http://www.tamrac.com/5549.htm<br /> It's large but it fits everything.. If you want the 70-200 attached there is also this one.. its a bit larger. http://www.tamrac.com/5550.htm<br /> Like I said, I carry that exact set up. I find the first bag works perfectly.</p>

<p>Thanks everyone! This has all been extremely helpful!</p>

<p>I was wondering what the opinion is about extremely long exposures with digital cameras. I am heading out to a family reunion in Saskatchewan on the weekend and I really wanted to take some star trail shots just like I used to with my film camera. The sky is so amazing and clear out there! No city light pollution!</p>
<p>I have read a few things about it not being very good for your sensor, it can overheat and damage the sensor causing dead pixels? Is this true? I am not worried about battery life, I do have plenty of backups. I just don't want to run the risk of damaging my sensor. </p>
<p>Is it worth going out and purchasing a remote to do long exposures of about an hour or so, should I do several 30 second shots and just merge them in photoshop(that would be a lot of photos!)? Or should I just dust off my old film camera and use that? I've gotten so used to seeing my results right away over the past several years that I might get a little impatient using my film camera! Lol.</p>
<p>Also I have both the Canon 5D and the Canon 5D MarkII.. It says you can use both the RC-1 and RC-5 remotes, but do you have to sit there and hold the button down on the remote for the full hour? Or once in bulb mode is it press once to open the shutter and twice to close the shutter, just like on my old film camera? Sorry I really don't have much experience with remotes, and I really want to do these shots just for the fun of it since I will have the pleasure of being under the clear prairie skies.</p>
<p>Any advise would be great!<br>
Thanks!<br>

<p>dead pixel.<br />My camera had a tonne of them blue/red and little white x's. Sent it into Canon and they replaced my sensor. I'm not sure if they would do a replacement for just the one pixel though. Mine had about 30.</p>

I have the 24-70 2.8 L and I love it. Bob is right though, wait a bit and see because of rumors of an updated 24-70.. I also
agree that the 85mm 1.2 L is a sexy lens! I want that one myself! If you do headshots it would be a very nice portrait lens.
I think the 24-70 would be a good all round use lens for you though, maybe to replace the 17-85 you are not happy with. Is
there a camera store near by that you could test the lenses on your camera and see which one you fall in love with more?

Thanks for your response Bill! I'm excited to hear it's not all covered up. :)

I am going to be visiting NYC at the end of September. I was curious if anyone knows if the construction on the outside of the
Guggenheim has been completed yet? Is it still all covered up? I'd love to get a shot of the exterior of the building.
Thanks!

I have the battery grip, but I just shot over 800 photos with my 5D the other day and my camera is still showing a "full"
charge. So even if the ONE battery is dead, it took WAY more than 200-300 shots!

David, I have the 5D and also the 24-70. I LOVE that lens just for a walk around lens. Also
instead of the 16-35, try the 17-40 for wide angle. Its much cheaper and pretty much the
same focal length. its just f4 instead of 2.8. Also I own the 70-200 but I find its not enough
length for me at all. I would hold off and save up for the 100-400, thats what I am doing
right now.

Michel,
"Edit" .. "Convert to Profile.." then in "Destination Space" in the "Profile" drop down menu
select sRGB
Just save the converted sRGB photo as a different name and you will have your original file
and your sRGB file
Cheers!

Pete,
Thank you so much. You'd think after 3 years of college, and having photoshop classes
where they constantly tell you about colour space and profiles, I would at least THINK of
checking that! But I did not, and yes that was the problem. Thank you very much for
easing my frustrations. LoL. Some were older photos that were just set to RGB, my newer
stuff was sRGB, so that is why it looked good and the old ones did not.
Now that I am embarassed, I am going to go make sure all my photos are set correctly!
Thanks Again!

Hello,
I just had a question when it comes to uploading photos. I shrink all my photos to web size using
Photoshop. When I upload my photos onto here (or sometimes other sites) I find that some photos look
just as they should, just like when they are opened on my computer, but some look quite dull and under
saturated on the web. Even though they are the same file that looks fine when opened on my computer.
Why is it that some photos look fine and others do not? Is there something I am doing wrong? I use the
same process for all my photos. Why is it that half look so bad when uploaded and half are the same as
the original?
Thanks for your help!

Weight was one concern of mine. I have the 5D with grip and i use the 24-70 2.8 L and after
a day of shooting i can feel it afterwards lol. and that lens is only 2 lbs.
Jeff Nolten, it is my DREAM to go to Galapagos! I hope you had an amazing trip!
Thank you once again everyone for your comments!

Thank you everyone for your helpful information and examples. All your photos are
wonderful! I have been eyeing up this lens for sometime, and your comments were
extremely helpful. I have the 70-200 f4 L but I really want to get more into bird photography
and I find that 200mm just is not enough :) Also my lens is the non IS version, so IS would be
very nice! I bought it(70-200) second hand, I had never really been into telephoto
photography but have found I really enjoy it.
You all have made me want this lens even more! :)

Hello,
I am interested in purchasing this lens. Can someone who has used this lens or who owns this lens tell
me their opinion of it?
For Wedding, Canon 5D2 or 7D?
