Fashad,
I think there is something you and I (and a few others) see in this image that the brigade of "3" raters is missing. I've never quite understood what a rating of 3 means.

Jody, yeh, you guessed it. It's one of several I've been experimenting with. On the one hand the limits of gymnastics test composition, but they also create some different vantage points. I find the portraits of my back the most difficult to compose and capture...
Thanks for taking the time to comment.
BTW... I enjoyed your collection also and will call back for a longer view and comment.

Carlos, thanks for taking the time to offer considered comment. Tony.

mostly about composition and form (I like the broad sweep of the curve and interpreting
the 1/3rds rule)... a familiar subject, in ambient light.
for your comment please.

leaving my Canon 5D aside for a bit, this image was shot with the Apple iPhone in
lighting conditions that deliberately generated 'noise' to provide artefacts for
manipulation in photoshop to create a more painterly effect.
Interested in comments on composition, tone and texture... and anything else
constructive.

James, thanks for the valuable comment again. The static nature of the image is an interesting observation and study in itself. I suspect it's partly a function of the lack of depth (everything almost in one plane) and the composition not really leading the eye anywhere. I might contemplate this a little further and try to remember to experiment with it in future poses. Tony.

Mike, thanks for the critique. This is the discourse I am seeking on PN. The only trouble is I am not seeing what you are describing. This may be my aging eyes which are having trouble with focus generally, or it may be a depth of field issue on which we have a difference of opinion, or jpg resolution matter because the image is compressed to about 80Kb from an original RAW file.
But it may be that there is something seriously deficient in my expectation of the quality of the image. Could you elaborate on your concern and offer suggestions in camera settings, etc to improve the image. Blur is in no way deliberate.
I am straight also, and I agree the model has a stunning physique worthy of high quality capture.

thanks.

my interest is in the light, texture. Interested in your interest.

tim,
I love the tonality, the crispness and the general composition, and I have a soft spot for the subject matter.
I am not sure about the apparent distortion of the geometry of the bridge (it is much taller than it appears here) and the tilting of the ground plane could empty the harbour onto the footpath.
But the image caught my eye. Hope all that is useful.
Tony.

A roofscape from Montalto in Italy. I liked the light, texture and geometry.

This is a detail capture of a bronze of Rodin's famous sculpture. I hope I have done it
justice within the constraints of lighting, etc in a public gallery.

light and form for your critique, thanks.

yeh, sweet shot. The tones and composition make it eyecatching.
Also, thanks for your comment on my eiffel tower pic.

This image has been amongst my favourites for quite some time and I just noticed it has raised no commentary. I'm not sure why. The pose is superb and the figure beautifully lit. Superb work.
Tony.
