Om2-n meter and shutter problems in Olympus Posted September 6, 2007 I recently bought an OM-2n. It needs a bit of work to get it back to workingorder. Presently I'm replacing the foam light seals which have succumbed to foamrot. The other 2 problems are: 1: With a 50mm f/1.8 lens wide open and pointing at a bright sky, the meternever gets above 1/8th second in the viewfinder. It's the same in manual mode. The needle never makes it into the correct exposure area. 2: On pressing the shutter release, the mirror locks up and the shutter sticks. It can be released by turning the shutter dial to B (no reset mark on mine). InB it opens and closes no problem. 3: The battery check light never comes on, even with fresh batteries. Could anyone shed light on these issues and suggest some solutions before Istart messing around inside the camera? Thanks.

I recently bought an OM-2n. It needs a bit of work to get it back to working
order. Presently I'm replacing the foam light seals which have succumbed to foam
rot.
The other 2 problems are:
1: With a 50mm f/1.8 lens wide open and pointing at a bright sky, the meter
never gets above 1/8th second in the viewfinder. It's the same in manual mode.
The needle never makes it into the correct exposure area.
2: On pressing the shutter release, the mirror locks up and the shutter sticks.
It can be released by turning the shutter dial to B (no reset mark on mine). In
B it opens and closes no problem.
3: The battery check light never comes on, even with fresh batteries.
Could anyone shed light on these issues and suggest some solutions before I
start messing around inside the camera?
Thanks.
