I've owned this lens for about 11 months and have not encountered such a problem. AF still works fine. Maybe you can get it serviced/checked at Nikon?

If money is no issue I'd say 17-55 f2.8 and 70-200 VR f2.8 as Elliot has mentioned. The 85mm f/1.8 is a good lens for its price, so I've read.

Hi I was just surfing around the forums and I realised that some people would
opt for manual focusing lenses, price not being a factor. Could anyone tell me
possible reasons why this is so? In the end, you still largely depend on the
cameras meters to tell you whether an object is in focus or not, so why manual?

You can go to the custom menu of the D80 and enable one of the options that says "FP mode". This will allow you to reach sync speeds of your fastest shutter speed, ie: 1/4000s through S or M mode.

Why not look at the 70-200mm VR f/2.8? I don't own one, but I've read about its superior optical quality. It's something you can prob use off the pitch too, unlike the less flexible 300mm f/4. Then again theres the newly released 400mm f/2.8 :)

August D200
in Nikon
I enjoyed the last 2 macro pictures of the flowers. How did you achieve the lighting for both of them? I ask this because I'm just experimenting on macro photography and have yet to take pictures such as that! -
Yes that sound is normal. My SB800 exhibits the same properties when it zooms

hi all
i've a sb800 with a d80 body. i realised that there are 2 different TTL modes;
TTL BL and just a standard TTL. i've read up the manual but there is no good
explanation of the differences. could anyone help me on that?
also, my d80 has a flash sync speed of 1/200s. does that the flash output power
is the same when it is fired at 1/60 and at 1/200, given that everything else
remains constant? i ask this because on manual mode on the sb800 with photos
taken faster than 1/200, the photos tend to become under-exposed.
thanks a lot! as you can tell im not very good with photography so be nice :)

Hi I wish to calibrate my monitor for accurate color depiction, but how do I go
about doing this? I am using a nvidia 7950GT, with a Samsung SyncMaster 930B
[19" LCD panel]
Thanks!
