You will obviously get a load of different answers depending on peoples personal
preference, but i would recommend a digital SLR as i found i learnt alot quicker getting to
see the instant result than when waiting for film to be developed, and the SLR lets you be
more creative.
Both Canon and Nikon have great gear at the lower end of the market. Try a Canon 300D
or 350D (should be able to pick up on ebay for next to nothing with lenses). Also have a
look at someone like Jessops for their new price as they will give you advice and support.

I went on holiday for a week and while i was gone the courier delivered a huge stack of new
computer gear to my office. Everyone just thought i had been ordering up large till the end of
the week when the courier returned to pick them back up as they had bought them to me
here at Tiger Tiger instead of a different company. So who knows, your Dell might be in an
office like mine somewhere;)
