  1. Ok, to all you wedding masters...........

What mode do you shoot the wedding ceremony and reception in (provided the

ceremony and reception are inside with low light)? All manual? Aperture

priority? Shutter priority? What works best for you?

    Thank you,

    Jacalyn

  2. Ronald- I have Photoshop Elements 5.0- I know how to get the soft effect, but don't know how to sharpen the eyes up (I can use the eraser tool, but can't change the opacity to match). Maybe I need to invest in Photoshop CS3, but man that is really expensive!!! Any advice on how to get the eyes sharp in Elements???

Nadine- Thank you for the advice, I'll try them with f5.6 and higher and see what happens.

Matt- I'll give the stocking a try too!

Thanks for such a great response!

  3. Ok, I just bought a soft focus filter set to use on my 50mm f2.8 prime for

portraits. The set includes Softone, Duto, and Diffuser filters. I simply

thought that I'd just screw them on and they'd work- acheiving that "angelic"

softness that I so desire. Not the case! Is it the filters or me? What am I

doing wrong? Is there a trick? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you,

    Jacalyn

  4. After pursuing my love for photographic art over the last couple of years, I've

decided to take on a new endeavor- wedding photography! I have a little less

than a year to learn as much as possible about wedding photography and would be

ETERNALLY GREATFUL to any professional that would be willing to take me under

their wing and show me the ropes. I am eager to learn, very professional, and

would love to assist/shadow/be a second shooter for an established professional

completely for free- I only want the experience and knowledge. I do have a

Canon Rebel XTI with the standard 18-55mm and 75-300mm zoom lenses to use. I

plan on purchasing the 430ex flash, 50mm f1.8, and 100mm f2.8 to add to this.

    Thank you,

    Jacalyn

  5. Paul and Colleen:

You are right- I really do enjoy using photoshop, but I'd rather have the skill set to take the pictures with the camera and render those photoshop results. I hope to gain knowledge and experience in that over the next year.

Also, the very large photo attachment was a mistake and now I can't figure out how to delete it off of the thread. It was taken by my husband with my very first digital camera about 3 years ago and only 2.0 megapixels- I know it is very "grainy". I simply added it because I thought I was supposed to add a picture of myself and I don't have many since I'm behind the camera more so than in front of it:)

  6. Well, after the last couple of years of selling my own photographic art (and

being in a couple of different galleries), I've decided to try my hand at

wedding photography. I currently own a Canon Rebel XTI, with a canon EFS 18-

55mm and Canon EF 75-300mm, a 4GB memory card and 3 lens filters. My question

is... what else am I going to need in order to be fully prepared for shooting a

wedding ceremony and reception (about 5-6 hours of shoot time). I've done a

bit of research and I know I'm going to need an external flash that can rotate

vertically and horizontally- but which one? Any suggestions? Also, I

understand that I'm going to need a back-up camera, extra camera and flash

batteries, lots of practicing and reading up, but what else?

I've got about a year to try and gain as much experience as possible before my

first wedding, which will be for a friend, who knows that I have not

professionally shot a wedding before. I have, however, taken some shots at a

couple of weddings I attended recently for "practice" and you can view those

photos in my portfolio. To view the rest, and all of my work, please visit my

Any suggestions/advice/constructive criticism would be great, thank you.<div>00MD9b-37918384.thumb.jpg.63b4d538d9f9afe520384532620c1e73.jpg</div>
