Thanks for your comment! I was having a bit of trouble with the light.

Comments welcome

Thanks!

In collaboration with Rachel Ann Foster (to whom the hand belongs,
incidentally).

I was taking shots of crocus and iris fronds poking up through all the
deadness of the ground. These especially caught my eye.
-
Thank you for the comment. To me, the opening flowers seem to be talking, loud, wisecracking, against the grayness.

Thanks for the comment. Background! Background! Background! I have to go back and re-adjust for my next trip to the butterfly house. I think I am scared of adjusting the camera on the fly (pardon the almost pun). I also get the sense that the butterfly is a bit over-exposed.

Thank you for your comment. I like what you have done with it.

The re-work is great--but I am suddenly feeling a lot of nostalgia for Jimmy Durante. Haven't thought of him in years. (bet that is an airplane joke for most people)

I love the animation and energy in this shot. I would appreciate a pic of me like this!
-
Thanks for your comment! The shot probably was taken in the mid-morning hours where by luck we wandered through the nearly empty ruins. It did seem magical.

I like how the bass is in focus while the player seems to whirl around it. Seems like a statement about how the instrument is eternal but the musician is fleeting. Silly associations done! The dings and wear on the bass add to this for me.

Love the hand on the strings and the composition--but as a somewhat musician I cringe at the sound it must make with the paper tucked in the strings! I like the picture a great deal.

"Nothing unnecessary" indeed. I get a sense of humor from this--I want to smile and laugh when I see it.

My wife is a snake phobic. This picture and others were taken at the Reptile House at Potter Park Zoo in Lansing, Michigan.

This situation presented a huge challenge to the model, my wife, who
went through it for important personal reasons. She felt that my
efforts to record it helped both of us cope with the situation. Posted
with her permission.

Thanks for the advice! I am really learning a lot here. I will mess around with what I have and see if I can improve the shot.

Thank you very much for your critique! I really don't know how to "drive" my camera, so in my case the Rebel is well named. What does "PP" stand for?
-
Maybe you could subtitle it "In CAR cerated Vehicles"? Bad, even for me. I think it is a great capture of the beauty of the inconvenient! Very witty shot.
-
Thank you for your comment! To be honest, I had not put this piece forward for critique because of the cluttered background.

Thanks so much for your comment on my photo! The light from the sun through the glass, cutting across the shadows, was definitely part of what appealed to me and that I was trying to capture. As I said earlier, at least as far as that was concerned, I meant to do that! I am having a lot of issues with getting a sharp focus, and I agree on the problem of cutting off the bottom of the glass. I used to love the strange, spiky and prismatic reflections that would go through glasses or bounce off of watch crystals and would amuse myself with them to...excess? Maybe.

I feel as though Edvard Munch's "Scream" is about to materialize out of the grain! I feel it is very effective and moving.
