These happen to be my favorite fish of all, and I tried with no success to get a shot of mine like this. Truly wonderful. I am glad that there are still some secrets left in the world.

Bravo. I think that the jet is fine. It adds to the scene rather than detracting from it. One might whimsically take it to be a shooting start. Heck while you are at it, why don't you just say take the boat. They both give a sense of realism, and bonus points for the fact that if you look at the arc of the jet, and the arc of the boat they form a circle. Great form, and creative use of the rule of thirds. 7/7

  1. I have seen the technique used a lot. I believe that some of the most well known photographs like this were created by Ann Geddes. I saw something similar, and very well done, by Sasha Gaer; another PDN member. My wife saw an Ann Heche shot like this at the ultrasound clinic that we went to, and she has been bugging me to hire someone to do a shot like this. HA! What did I spend all of that money on a camera for? I set the timer function on the camera, checked my lighting, and I was off, running back and forth across the living room trying to get this shot. And after a few hours of missed shots, a whole lot of screaming baby, and even some pee, I was able to create the images that you see here. Thank you all for taking the time to view it, and leave some feedback. I truly appreciate it.

This little girl was so interested in everything that she saw around

her. I love the vintage feel of this shot. Tell me what you think.

  2. Again, I appreciate all of the kind comments that I received on this image. It was really shot in the infancy of my photography career, I have only been shooting for one year, and I was just trying to keep my daughter occupied. I can announce with great pride, and relief, that the baby we were having the ultrasound for is now a very healthy girl. Thank you all for following it.

  3. A friend and I were recently talking about rating, and commenting on architecture, and nature. He said that if you are brave enough to do something like that, show how man is encroaching. This exemplifies that concept. It looks like man is literally growing right out of the forest. I love it!

    Cheetos and Wine.

While a white like Albariño would be ideal, you could pull off a nice Ripasso, or perhaps a Chianti. Perhaps the fruit and crisp acidity of an 05 Cru Beaujolais would work well too. This is really a versatile snack food. Look for some upcoming efforts with jerky and other gas station food as well. This will probably wind up being a series...

Margaret, you mean Cheesy. That was the whole point. I am going to be a level 1 certified sommelier in November, and a friend and I were drinking a ripasso when I jokingly brought him some Cheetos. We have a mutual friend in Cali, that is a huge player in the wine scene. We shot some images of ourselves eating them with wine, and sent them to her. She wanted me to do some more experimental shots with it. There will be one of a public sampling coming sometime in the future. If we can joke about the serious things in our lives, then we will never take anything too seriously. Well, except for photography.
