Thanks Darren, glad you like my composition.. It was my first time making use of shadow in a creative way and I totally agree with you.. Shadow in a creative way really helps a photos character..

I used a strong back/side light and a key light.. (key light - straight down the nose) - I also had to use a black out card to help with some flare spilling in from the back/side light.
