  1. Timothy, if you can get your hands on a roll of Kodachrome 200 (PKL) give it a try. I find it a very pleasing "snow" film. As per Kodak's site, PKL will be discontinued mid-year 2001. It's worth buying one roll to give it a try and if you like it... shop & shoot like crazy, winter's getting on!
  2. I went there in late November and the tempratures hit anywhere from around the freezing point to 50 BELOW with the wind chill!! While shooting in town I had to tuck in behind buildings just to change films. Skin exposure time was about 10 - 20 seconds before it felt like your hands would fall off.

Be prepaired for the worst, you can't be too careful.

I went through the Adirondacks from Oct 1 - 6 and peak was just getting good. Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake, Lake Placid & Adirondak Loj on Heart Lake all had good color and I would guess that absolute peak would have been last week.

The banks of the Au Sable River from Placid north to Wilmington weren't really good in my time frame so they may be a good place to look (excellent opportunities along this beautiful river).

I travelled as far south as Moreau Lake State Park (south / east of Adir.) on I-81 and the colors were slower than the north.

Adirondack Park is a real "sleeper" seeming to always fall behind NH, VT. etc, but if it's fall colors that someone wants to concentrate on, this is a great place!!

    Have fun & good luck.

    Pete

  4. Michael, areas like VT / NH have peaks in different places at different times, you need to follow it and stay with it. Use your eyes & vehicle. As Cowan said, keep up with progress via the internet & phone. You should get some great colors in your time frame, just be mobile.
  5. Can anyone recommend any web sites which will help identify trees,

plants, flowers etc. to aid in labelling slides. There seems to be a

few sites which will show drawings / art but I can't find any with

photos to use as a comparison.
