  1. There are some great bird sanctuaries and National Wildlife Refuges in NJ. The Brigantine section of the Edwin B. Forsythe NWR, near Exit 48 off the Garden State Parkway is one where you can find dozens of species including birds of prey such as Bald Eagle, Osprey, Perigrine, etc. and many shore birds such as Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, Snowy Egrets, terns, wood ducks, etc. In Allentown in Northern Jersey, a little area known as the Celery Farm is very abundant, with the local Audubon chapter's record being 41 species of bird ID'd in one hour of observation.
