My 13yr old son saw this coming when family came over for

thanksgiving, He positioned himself for the shot when the dog came in.

*No cats or dogs were harmed in the making of this image :-)

You have the eye as I say, the composition is really good, and you caught a great pleasant expression.

    As for the overall image:

Bags\dark circles are always a problem, it's a given in PS work to fix bags and\or dark circles.

Your camera exposed for the face, which is darker then the hat by far, so what you get is a nicely exposed face, minus the left side, and blown out hat. I assume the sun was beating down on the hat or you were real close and the flash did it?

Get a 430ez or used 550 or 580ex, your flash pix will improve immediately.

Diffuse your lighting, just Google 'diffused flash' and you will have a lot of reading to do.

Just rubber banding a index card to the flash helps tremendously.

Overall, way above average here for new gear and a supposed novice :-)

Love it, would also love to see this one in B\W and\or sepia. This looks like one you would get on a canvas and hang in the child's room. Very nice work!

Love the photo and mood. I do have to agree w\another commenter here. I would like to see the whole image, not sure the vignetting is necessary here, IMHO. I think seeing more of the flowers along side her would really add to the soft mood of the photo.

    Still, it's a great image!

Thank you all for the nice comments, just to let everyone know she wasn't crying or sad, she was in the middle of a peek-a-boo. I guess you could say she was in the "peek" stage :-)

She started doing this all on her own while I was turned away, I had a split second to get this, as soon as I captured this, the hands came open.
