1.
It is the perfect camera for me. I bought an E-PL5 last week and took it on a short trip and absolutely loved it. However, I really want the extra features found on the E-P5, so I returned it and preoredered the EP-5.
I really just shoot vaction photos these days, but like the extra flexability of interchangable lenses and all of the other professional qualities of this camera combined with great portability.

00bjzF-540794384.jpg.5876e543f65b8644dd7b4060a6bba963.jpg

  2. You might want to try PS Elements.

I might just do that. You can buy elements for $60.00 then upgrade to cs3 for $200.00 instead of $640.00 for cs3 full. My photoshop 7 is not registered to me. A friend lent it to me to try.

No dodging and burning in Lightroom, and this was created by photographers LOL. Sounds like Adobe is just forcing us to buy both.

    Go figure.

  3. I just found this out while shooting with my E510. Liveview doesn't work when your using an infrared transmitter in the hot shoe. This is really stupid, since I bought the strobes for product photography and the live view is the only way to get a grid on the screen. I called Olympus and they said I was right. To bad, I didn't want to be right on this one.

Just thought you might want to know if your shooting coins.

  4. Thank you for your responses. I will definitely give the free trial of lightroom a try. It sounds like lightroom does what I'm trying to do in photoshop, but makes it simpler. I just want to crop, burn, dodge, color correct. The usual things a photographer wants to do, without creating layers and all that mess.
  5. Hello folks, I'm new here and just getting back into photography after a 20

year abscence. My how things have changed. I have photoshop 7, which I find

very frustrating. I'm trying the trial of CS3 and find it the same.

I'm going to download the trial of lightroom tonight and try it for myself.

What I would like to know is what you guys, who are obviously much more in tune

with todays photo techniques think about lightroom. Is it helpfull to you or is

photoshop all you need? Or is lightroom all you need? Or both?

I also here there is freeware called Gimp, any opinions on this?

I realize I can and will try all of these for myself; however, after seeing the

incredible work on this sight, I would really like the opion of some of you

guys who have obviously mastered digital imaging.

    Thank You,

    Stan

  6. Hello there, I'm new to these forums, so I dont know if I'm necroing this post. However, I just thought I'd let you know that I just got the standard E510 kit last week and am really loving this camera. I bought a Nikon coolpix 5700 when they first came out and have hated it from day one. The Oly is much easier to use. Getting to the menus is a snap from the display by simply hitting ok then scrolling to the setting you want to change. The Nikon made me think I hated digital photography, but the Oly is making me fall in love all over again. The magnifying eyecup is a tremendous aid, you might want to consider in your package.
  7. Well, I just ordered one online last night. I don't have it yet, but the first thing I plan to do with it, is shoot my Nikon so I can put it on ebay. The menus on the Nikon drive me batty.

I gave up photography years ago due to a slight tremor in my hands. I'm hoping the duel image stablizers will be the answer to my prayers. We will see. I try to always shoot at ISO 100, so I don't see the chip being an issue for me. That's what tripods and lights are for :) This camera packs a lot of bang for the buck, of course it is plastic!
