Depending on just how basic your compact camera is, you should be able to get some great photos with it. The important part is understanding and using the manual controls. I realized after getting a much better camera, that I really wasn't using my first camera to it's full potential.

Welcome Brent, I literally stumbled upon this place too. It's great, you can learn so much from the resources and community, and share too.

Smells like paranoia.

I took quite a few graphic design classes in college. A good program to use is Adobe Illustrator. As with anything in design, it's important to really rack your brain for ideas, try to come up with 50-100 thumbnail sketches before narrowing it down. The logo you have now isn't bad, but I totally agree that it needs to stronger. I would try simply making the B and P bolder and thicker, and shrinking the relative size of the serifs/pipe ends on the letters. Is it too late to work with the designer? Your sister should not have ok'd this final design if she wasn't happy.

Sorry, this won't help much either, just more frustration.

That's a tough one. I wouldn't miss the concert, it would be great if you could do both somehow. Maybe end your trip for the concert then continue after and go somewhere else that's closer to home.
