  1. Thanks for all the replies so far.

    Garry I checked out the link you sent and it definitely does seem to be quite a bit for a lot less money. My main concern with that kit is the recycle time. I'm planning on taking photos of kids and a 2-4s recycle time seems ages. Also i do wonder if 200Ws would be enough to get the effects that I want, although as I am a complete beginner with studio photography I'm just going by what i have read.

    I'm starting to think maybe I should just try and stretch a little further and get something like Elinchrom or Bowens.

  2. I've found a similar kit for sale on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Studioset-3x-350Ws-Flash-Softbox-Octagon-Stands_W0QQitemZ330228740466QQihZ014QQcategoryZ3860QQcmdZViewItem main difference i can see is the output of the strobes. Main reason that I'd rather buy from the store in teh original post is that i'm unsire of importing the items and any warrenty issues that could arise. The same seller on ebay has a number of accessories also.
  3. Hi guys. I know its been asked a zillion times in various forms, but I'm

    wanting to set up a new studio. At the moment for a bit of fun to take photos

    of friends and family (individual and group shots), but eventually wanting to

    make a business out of it, and not have to totally upgrade my gear to do that.

    I currently have a Nikon D80.

    I've been looking around and I'm really keen on the high key style of

    photography, especially the sort of stuff that you see <a

    href="http://www.thisisventure.co.uk/images.aspx?cat=4">here</a> (hope that

    works!) I'm currently based in the UK and have found <a

    href="http://www.profilmgear.com/Items/13378?

    sck=30315257&caSKU=13378&caTitle=Complete%20Studioset%

    20600/600/420/260">this</a> kit that I quite like the look of. I currently have

    a small space so i realise that it could be a bit of overkill, but I want

    something that I can grow into rather than out of.

    Has anyone had any experience with this brand? Apart from a background is there

    anything else that I need for a startup kit? Any other general recomendations?

    Thanks :)
