First camera I bought with my own money I believe was either a Nikon FM2, minox 35 or a Contessa Nettel presscamera... that was long time ago so not sure in which order that was.

I have seen this happen too many times with big updates taken simultaneously into use, as a long time member I love this site and would like to participate in beta testing... but prefererably with changes in small babysteps.<br>

<p>Gunnar, I got my materials from http://www.aki-asahi.com. I took the silk with one sided rubber. I noticed they now have a lot more other things for sale. I ordered my fabric so long time ago.. I got a roll of the fabric and it has lasted very long.</p>

<p>Gunnar, one can replace them, I have done it and replaced entire curtains also. But at least with mentor or it's type of shutter, when you glue the replacement straps in place they need to be perfectly straight and correct lenght and of correct material otherwise it will not either work properly or the curtains wont align properly. I have so far found the best material to be rubberised silk from japan. Any small miss alignments or differences in shapes or differences or the needed corners of 90 degree angles will easily increase into bigger problems when the shutters are moving inside the mechanism. It would indeed be nice to know what kind of equpiment they originally used to make the mentor shutters in mass production.</p>

It is nice that you have the rear extension... those are really difficult to find. But from the bag and accessories it is very difficult to estimate time. I have cameras from first 2 decades of 20th century that have still been used in 1960's.. with newer bags etc. just old camera even with added flash syncs. :)</p>

<p>I have experience with both Ukraine and Russia and travelled in both countries and I would not hesitate to send something to Russia, but Ukraine is another case. I would say the best way in Ukraine to have services like this is to personally deliver to the repair person as both countries still seem to value people who do good repairwork or handcraft. Just that many of these capable people do not have internet or any way to connect to unless going straight to them.</p>

<p>Almost every time I have had this kind of response it has been a case of a misuse of someone elses account. Few times after purchase they ask to pay to another paypal account instead of the one mentioned in the ebay payment system...at that point few good questions about why and they usually cancel the sales. There are all kinds of people there just like in the real world.... every action always has a risk. Also if the camera is something I really really want... I don't care about the sellers attitude, only that I get the item that I paid for.</p>

<p>Nice, so if anyone has that version.. maybe we can get more out of it. But so far my guess is graflex slr due to a few features, but they are so blurry that it can be only something I think I see.</p>

<p>Thanks Dan! Should it be more of a listing of technical features, or grading of how the camera performs, ergonomy etc. or both? With many presscameras the choices of lenses and shutters etc. was really big and so the technical performance parameters changed a lot and when one buys a presscam finding the exact same might be difficult.</p>

My problem is that I prefer, collecting, repairing and using those cameras over updating a website. I have now had a website for almost 20 years and the update rate is too slow. <p>Before my cameras were in boxes and in sturdy cabinets and scattered around several storage places. Due to moving to a new place, my wife actually allowed me to have a separate room for my camera collection.Now I have a problem as I need to design the shelves etc for the cameras. It is funny that once you get something you have always wanted.... you have no idea what you should do with it. :)</p>

<p>Yes, it has. It has made it more easier to find some rare pieces. Also prices have come to more sensible levels. Internet has made it more easier for me share my findings with others, as I do not know so many collectors where I live. And yes... eBay is the best :)</p>

<p>Thanks Dan, I will now need to start searching for these lenses for my camera. Also if someone here knows the purpose of the strange "flash shoe" on the top of the camera, did they make some special flash to fit this or was it for some other purpose like for aerial imaging?</p>

<p>Thank you David for your information, but there was not much information of the wideangles type and shutter there as I am searching for one for my own Peckham Wray. Actually it is a nice camera to use despite the protected British market,especially due to its ingenious focusing system... well at least I like it.</p>

<p>I only sell gear when.... I just realised I don't. The few times I have considered I actually ended up buying more. I have been collecting since 1990's and still the novelty has not worn off, it's like very good food or coffee or chocolate, I never get tired of them either.</p>
