This was an image i took in london a couple of years ago, i have been experimenting with
some heavy painterly manipulation lately and thought i would throw it out there for
comments... thanks!

I have been dabbling lately with merging my photos and paintings, trying to find a good
balance of the two. any comments on this one?

I bought Peter Gowland's last pocket view 4x5 camera almost 20 years ago or so, he had stopped making them but had enough parts on hand to make one more... he is super nice, and the camera is still holding up. glad to hear he is still kicking. i always wanted a gowlandflex too, but couldn't justify it.
great painterly effect on the photo, it has a great energy to it!

Hi there DH, thanks for the input, i was actually aware of the blue sensitivity thing, i hadn't entered into at all because a) i haven't done any landscape photos where it would make a huge difference with (although this weekend i was playing around with some pictures from the beach); and b) since i am doing this all in the computer i am taking some liberties with the whole thing anyway. the calotype comparison is probably a little more accurate too, i have done some kallitypes, cyanotypes, palliadium printing and gum printing in the past (the Keepers of Light textbook was in my backpack in college for 3 years straight), and just don't have the time or space to get good at it anymore, hence the computer stuff (although i did some cyanotypes with some kids in a workshop this weekend). the shallow depth of field thing is a "me" thing, i have always been a f1.2 kind of guy in my film days, and when i can afford it the canon af 1.2 50mm is on my want list. as far as the processing scratches I'm sure people like Scully and Osterman would be shocked and appalled if i actually make a collodion plate look this bad, but i am more inspired by sally mann than by them.
i tried out the color sliders on lightroom (i think photoshop has the same controls) yesterday, if i were to play with the blue sensitivity thing would i slide the blue bar all the way to the right (+100), and all the others to the left (-100) or vise versa?
thanks for taking the time to comment on my pictures, i have a show coming up in October and i am still trying to figure out which body of work i want to put up.
thanks a bunch!

I'll worry about figuring out how to output the images later, but i have been working lately on
making my photos look like they are from earlier years. this is a little still life done with a
house guest we had a couple of months ago. thanks!
