1.
Hi LIL,
Digital image making is a private affair for me these days. There was a time when I enjoyed camera clubs and other associations, but these days, I tend not to talk to fellow photographers. I’d rather chat to artists instead.
Mateship is a great thing, but when it comes to the creative process, one must learn to be alone with their ideas and thoughts.
Just my opinion,
Cheers,
2. Recently, there was a television series on Australian national television

through the ABC broadcaster. It was aired at mid afternoons on Sunday.

I can not recall the name of the series.

This TV series looked at the history of photography over the 60's, 70's and

    80's.

    Did any one watch it.

But can I raise one point first.

There was this Guy who did travel about the USA photographing petrol stations

in each state on his travels about the US.

He then published a book containing nothing but photos of petrol stations in

the United States. (Somewhere between 1960 - 1980)

    I ask WHY.

What or where and Or is this a good thing?

And, why is it that photographers in this period where considered "artists"?

Which I think is a bit of an insult to paint or draw Artist per-say.

Anyway, by all means comment on this discussion.

    Cheers

    CLIVE.

    :)

  3. im getting bored with the subject.

if you could fix the rating system......how would you acctually do it?

theres no point conplaining about it (unless you have a brilliant solution) 2 it.

no matter what you do, there is allways the zero voter with shyte stir mentallity.

    cheers

  4. To be honest, vote 3 to me anytime if you want to.

I just think that a photographer has to make the call her/himself as to what there photo is worth.

If it pleases certain people, then thats good. If people spam 3 because they have low self esteem, then so be it.

Unfortunately, some people with thin skin come here thinking that this site is the real deal and that everything about it is accurate and above board. (and I am sure it tries to be).

If the so called "rating system" is working as well as it should, then we would all be expert photographers doing 100% work 100% all the time.

But it would be nice to get a nice accurate gauge of your work here, but alas......that will never be.

    Maybe one day? I Dunno.

    Cheers (excuse my ramble).

  5. Now then.

Whats all this fuss about ay?

First off, this discussion is interesting in itself, as we all ask our selves the question, what is Photography?

Ask your selves the following question:

Does a picture have to be perfect to be a good picture?

In my eye, there is a time and a place for focus and blur and its up to the photographer to make the call. Its also a personal choice for any photographer to decide on the formate and settings, eg, 33:67 (third rule) or 50:50 compositions. (Both are EQUALY VALID) The thing that gets up my nose is that some people in the photography world seem to insist that some rules have to be law. Photography should be flexible and enjoyable and it is the dealers choice and if you dont like it, so be it. If you do like something, then so be it as well.

Personally, I think Mr Harris has got it right. But its also up to Mr Harris to evaluate his own work and make up his own mind about what his next project will be. A vote of 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 is neither here nor there.

Just keep shooting, keep experimenting and one day, maybe if your lucky, you will get that winning shot!

    Cheers.
