1.
Go with the 2880. You can print on anything the big printers can print on and it uses the same inkset. The 1900 is not using archival inks and it is limited on what you can print on. We consider this to be the first "real" printer for fine art photo. Basically the only thing you can upgrade from the 2880 is size, this is the top of the line epson technology.
2.
As far as Epson is concerned every printer is "great" and high quality. They would not say the downfalls of any of the products on there.
3.
You need to go with companies like Verbatium who do not outsource the cd's or dvd's to the lowest bidder. These guys make their own stuff and are high quality. You could always go for the archival gold ones from Kodak. The bad thing about dvd's and being archival is the multiple ink layers as opposed to the single ink layer in a cd. Just get solid state memory and you will be fine...

Signature URL removed. Not allowed per photo.net Terms of Use.

 4.
Just go with the Eye one Display LT. You do not need the Color Munki. The Eye One Display is the highest rated colorimeter by color specialists. There are better spectrophotometers than the Color Munki (Go with the Eye One is is very accurate and much more professional).

The Display is all you need to start but the monitor is very, very important. If you do not have a good monitor a color calibration device will do next to nothing. Look into the Eizo monitors (top of the line) or a very high end monitor: Apple Cinema Display (with matte screen as it will be much more accurate when profiling). The Apple monitors are renowned for being inexpensive and very accurate when it comes to color.
5.
I would go with Aperture 2.
-You can get a better custom profile for printing: custom icc profile using Apple's Aperture.
6.
Apple makes a great product here with Time Machine. If you do not want to get involved with lots of technical settings go with Time Machine. That is the great thing about Mac, everything is easy and seamless! What OS version are you running? Just get an external too. Another good OS backup system would be Silver Keeper.
7.
Try the Hahnemuhle Fine Art Baryta. It is not as glossy as the Epson Exhibition Fiber (which is on a huge sale right not) but has a nice texture and luster sheen.
Signature URL removed. 8.
Try the Innova Semi-Matte paper. Hahnemuhle's new Baryta FB also is very close to the Ilford Gold Fibre Silk. Give a call and we can discuss some papers. 800.760.6623
