I like the Fine Art Baryta, the gloss on Hahnemuhle's new papers is great!

Also make sure you have the most current and updated driver for your 3800.

If you mean Giclee as an Iris print then it is hard to duplicate the dot pattern that the Iris printer puts out. The ink dot pattern of the Epson or another current inkjet printer is much more fine and not as noticeable.

As far as Epson is concerned every printer is "great" and high quality. They would not say the downfalls of any of the products on there.

You need to go with companies like Verbatium who do not outsource the cd's or dvd's to the lowest bidder. These guys make their own stuff and are high quality. You could always go for the archival gold ones from Kodak. The bad thing about dvd's and being archival is the multiple ink layers as opposed to the single ink layer in a cd. Just get solid state memory and you will be fine...

Signature URL removed. Not allowed per photo.net Terms of Use.

Just go with the Eye one Display LT. You do not need the Color Munki. The Eye One Display is the highest rated colorimeter by color specialists. There are better spectrophotometers than the Color Munki (Go with the Eye One is is very accurate and much more professional).

The Display is all you need to start but the monitor is very, very important. If you do not have a good monitor a color calibration device will do next to nothing. Look into the Eizo monitors (top of the line) or a very high end monitor: Apple Cinema Display (with matte screen as it will be much more accurate when profiling). The Apple monitors are renowned for being inexpensive and very accurate when it comes to color.

Ben,
I hope things have worked out for you. But if not please give me a call and we can get your problem worked out. You should always get better results with a custom icc profile using Apple's Aperture.

Apple makes a great product here with Time Machine. If you do not want to get involved with lots of technical settings go with Time Machine. That is the great thing about Mac, everything is easy and seamless! What OS version are you running? Just get an external too. Another good OS backup system would be Silver Keeper.

Try the Hahnemuhle Fine Art Baryta. It is not as glossy as the Epson Exhibition Fiber (which is on a huge sale right not) but has a nice texture and luster sheen.
Signature URL removed.
Look above where the inks go. If it says Epson Ultrachrome then it is pigment.
What are your color settings in PS? Are you using the monitor profile as a color space?

Just make a print on epson luster paper and if you can wipe the ink off then it is dye.

It is not listed yet. They have not given us the pricing or are shipping stock though. I will give Max a call today and post asap. I may be able to get some sooner than anyone else...

Make sure no other programs are running. And that none are running in the background (virus scan, firewall, things under run -->msconfig). How much HD space do you have left on the HD Photoshop is installed on?

also try the Canson Baryta 310. Very very similar to the Ilford gold fiber silk. I have seen them side by side and could not tell the difference.

Try the Innova Semi-Matte paper. Hahnemuhle's new Baryta FB also is very close to the Ilford Gold Fibre Silk. Give a call and we can discuss some papers. 800.760.6623

Here is a color management tutorial to help you with color management. It goes over Photoshop but not lightroom though it is very informative.

What kind of camera do you have? There may be a way to duplicate it. Why not just rescue the card to find it?

-

All the papers I suggested above are specifically for inkjet printing on your ipf 8100

-

You have described this paper perfectly. With the quality of Epson Enhanced Matte but at a better price and it is double sided it is perfect for your needs.

I will always ask what the client wants, it is not my file so I will do what the client wants. If you are really worried make the printer work off of a disc so it is never copied.
Epson printer features - Why the vagueness?

Go with the 2880. You can print on anything the big printers can print on and it uses the same inkset. The 1900 is not using archival inks and it is limited on what you can print on. We consider this to be the first "real" printer for fine art photo. Basically the only thing you can upgrade from the 2880 is size, this is the top of the line epson technology.
