    Leaf

Yeah, it actually works really well in a number of ways. You've got good use of lines, good use of selective focus, a really nice soft quality of light, great detail/image fidelity... if there's something that's not working, it's that leaf. You could put a more exciting leaf in there or a more exciting anything else. Although you've such a good job rendering it in this shot that it's true uniqueness comes through, even though it's something we would normally dismiss as quite ordinary.

Really like this shot. I'd also like to hear how you did it, if you don't mind...

  1. Good film/postproduction choices. I'm a sucker for contrasty black and white, and the look works with this sort of subject matter very well. It also looks quite sharp, with good detail, although you are losing a bit in the shadows. I can only tell so much from an image this small but it appears you've achieved excellent image quality here, both in a technical and stylistic sense.

If I had to suggest improvements, it would be in your composition. I'd like to either see more of the truck- the back end, as well as some more space for the front- it feels cramped up there. Alternatively, you could come in closer, get more detail on the truck, and take away some of the background. The sky and the trees are taking up an awful lot of real estate in this image, and I don't feel they contribute much to the image. It's just a little to straight on and static. Do you have any other images of the truck taken from more extreme angles/viewpoints? I'd love to see them if you do.

Overall, you've done a really good job in creating a dramatic look for your subject, but I feel it could use a more dramatic composition to match. Nice job overall though.
