One night I was working with my daughter on how to ride her bike
without training wheels. She was so serious about getting it right,
and was feeling the pain of learning. I had my camera with me and
the sky sure looked nice. She had just fallen hard and was building
up the courage to get back on when I took this shot.

I don't know the species, but it was in the yard one day for a short
time.

Shawn,
Nice butterfly, If you are hand holding your cammera, use a flash so you can get more depth of field. If you dont have a flash use a tripod or some sort of rest to hold the cammera steady so you can use a smaller aperature which is the same as a larger F-stop number. YOur exposure looks good so instead of using F4 @ 250 use F8 @ 60 or F 16 @ 15.
Keep it up and you will do great and have fun with photography all of your life.

Using the existing negative I used to print this picture. Are there any techniques I can use to get mnore pop out of the flower?

Jill,
I think it is very creative. Keep up the good work!

Anthony,
The shot is nice and composed well. It calms me even though it is very busy. I like the flare of the upper right hand corner but may have used a grad to tone it down some. The lights look like water paint to me.
Nice job! If your photos/cameras make you happy, it doesnt matter matter what I think. $5000 for something you could pass on to future generations and enjoy your entire lifetime is a small price to pay IMHO.
Keep doing what your doing

This picture was taken at Seaworld a couple of weeks ago. Cropped to
bring more attention to the subject as I took the picture from my
random seat. Sharpened slightly with USM in PS7.
