  1. "Gateways are opening.

A calm sea harbingers peace and stillness, so hard to find in this tumultuous world of ours.

I see only an invitation to await the parting of clouds in this photo which will break forth the light of a new day!

  2. I guess it is because the netherlands as a whole lacks contrast and is dull colored :-) What you see is already a substantial improvement over the original file, I felt that adding even more punch would not do justice to the original scene as I saw it.

I would have used another crop, much tighter. I have the feeling this is not tight enough for a portrait but too tight for fashion.

Interesting idea, but there is too much material in the front of the image and what it is framing is blown out. Looks like you used some "auto-metering" that gave the correct exposure to the foreground even though in this case the background is what should have had the correct exposure

Looking bck on earlier criticism, yeah a lot of spectacular nature shots probably do have more in common with film type than with reality. Having said that I still would have prefered more "punch". If that means I am slowely being assimilated, let it be :-)

Sometimes I am just amazed (in a surprised kind of way) at the

outcome of certain combinations of lens, film speed, aperture, etc.

This was one of those moments...
