  1. I'm so confused about what cords to get for PWs and a 580 EX. I have a 430 EX,

and I'm looking to purchase a 580 EX and a couple of Pocket Wizard Plus II. I

want to be able to use the 580 as the master and the 430 as the slave. I know I

    need this cord (<A HREF="http://www.paramountcords.com/proddetail.asp?prod=pw-

    mhsf1">http://www.paramountcords.com/proddetail.asp?prod=pw-mhsf1</A>) to

connect the 580 to the PW, but would it be better to get one of these instead:

    <A

    HREF="http://www.paramountcords.com/ttl.asp">http://www.paramountcords.com/ttl.a

sp</A>. If so, why and which one? Thanks!

  2. I guess this question is not for the amateurs...well, it could be if you still

consider yourself one. But I'm just curious. If you currently have a studio

with umbrellas/softboxes/flash units/backdrops/etc., how long would you say it

took you to understand your equipment? I mean I'm sure all professionals were

amateurs once and can relate to all the beginner questions in the forum. But

there had to come a time when you could just walk into your studio with

confidence in what to do with everything. How long did it take for things to

    finally click? Thanks!

  3. Wow. Didn't mean for this post to turn into a huge debate. It was a simple question as far as I was concerned. Yes, my sister-in-law's daughter has concerns about her weight, but what other details (height? color of her hair/eyes?) does one need to post to get a simple answer without it turning into a PC debate? I really do appreciate those (Henry, David, Tim, Michael, Steve, Eve, Alec, Edsel) who gave useful, helpful, non-sarcastic advice.

Tim - I really like your images - especially the 2nd one you posted. Very nice! It will be both inside and outside. And she's about 100lbs overweight. (Just answering his question, Meg.)

Eve - Does your friend have a website or anything where I can see the head and shoulders shot she did? I agree with you in that if you hadn't posted your remark about "unhelpful posts," I was about to respond with, "Meg, do you have anything to add that is relevant to my question?" I wonder how Meg would feel if everyone responded to her questions with sarcasm.

Meg - You stated, "Maybe a post that said something like what to do to when someone who is larger would like to look thinnner would be much better worded." and "i also am self evolved enough to consider "intention" i don't think Chris had any intention of wording or implying anything to insult another but there would be plenty of people highly insulted about this post." Since you know what my intention was, do you have an answer besides something sarcastic? When I say sarcastic, I refer you to your first few responses to my question. If a client came to you wanting you to make her look thinner in her pictures, what would your technique be? And as Alec pointed out, what would you say to someone who tells you, "I don't want that picture because I look fat - can you take twenty pounds and twenty years off me please?"

  4. For those of you who photograph weddings in the south, do you agree with some

posts I've read where they state that southerners prefer more posed shots with

their family? I have a wedding in Kentucky coming up for a young (20yrs old)

couple. I prefer shooting more candid, PJ shots, but if the B&G want the posed

family shots, I'll of course do that as well.

  5. I have a Rebel XT, 430ex, and a few lenses - 50mm f1.8, the kit lens (18-55mm

    f3.5-5.6), 17-40 f4, and 70-200 f4.

I'm going to an outdoor corporate party - nothing fancy...more of a get

together so I'd like to bring my camera and play around with it. I ordered the

Demb Flash Diffuser Pro, and if it arrives before the party, I'll bring that

too. I know Joe's website already has some examples, but was wondering if any

of you have images where you used your Demb Flash Diffuser outdoors.

    Thanks.
