Mine is made in Thailand and works a treat. Having travelled around a lot, it's not a country that i'm concerned about.

Thanks Gents.
I am after a sync program. I have an existing structure on an external HD. When I add images on my Mac, I want to do a sync and just copy the relevant images. Also, if I remove images from the external HD, they will then be removed from my Mac. I do not want to perform a back up. I have been reading about synk & chronosync and they sound very promising.

I have made the jump to a Mac and need some advise on synchronising to a backup HD.
On Windows I used a program (syncback) that could sync between two directories and modify each accordingly.
What program do you use to look at the files properties and overwrite or leave as necessary?
I don't want to just keep overwriting my directory on the external HD.

Thanks everybody for the responses. I haven't calculated the different sides bit like both for and against.
Happy shooting and a Happy New Year.

Thanks Jose,
Maybe it's my mind but after many opening/closing I think it is not as tight a it used to be. Luckly the card is 8GB and I tend to download before it is full by a long way. Held to D700 when i bought the D300 but wanted DX. Hope your D700 stays dry.

Hi All,
First of all Merry Christmas.
I was wondering what is the majority in the way you are downloading you images.
I tend to use the USB cable straight from camera so as to not risk damaging any pins in the CF slot.
But doing this daily I was wondering if it will effect the seal to that area of the camera (D300).
What are you preferred methods?

Cheers,

Same boat. I have just bought a 70-200 f/2.8. Went to the christmas events with children today 2 lenses. Had to swap for different situations. Had the 18-200VR for a couple of years now and wanted to go faster for boy football weekends. What a pain changes lenses every 15mins. My 18-200VR is grreat and sharp. Better still told wife I was selling it to get 70-200 and has now forgotten. Will keep for these ocassions. Great lenses.

Hi Simon,
I am in a similair situation. I have the 17-50 and the 18-200. I am looking at getting the Sigma 70-200 for my sons football mostly. (Not a pro so the Nikon one is out). I find the 18-200 so convienent. I will sell it but I know I will miss the 1 lense walkabout etc. As for the 17-50, it would be nice if it was 20mm longer but a few more steps forward makes up alot for it short fall. If you don't need the 2.8 on the long side I would go the 70-300VR. I would get this if it was faster, but on a cloudly cold morning watching football, 5.6 is to slow.

When I bought my D300, the D700 had just hit the shops. I had a play with both but for me DX is better for what I shoot. I like wide, but at twice the cost it didn't take long to make my decision. A £1000 goes along way towards a 70-200f2.8 and a nice 10-20 or 12-24.. I will not be reading Thom article. I have his book on the D300 and am very happy.

John,
Just because the D80 has scene modes doesn't mean you have to use them.
I can understand the card issue, just don't bag the D80 because it has scene modes and you don't get any PRO Nikon points for having it.
Cheers,
Warren

Hi Simon,
I am in exactly the same boat. My mind is telling me to get the D200 now before the D80 prices drop, but the heart tells me to live with it for a while and then get a D300. The longer and more I think of it, I feel the decision is being made for me as I haven't got a D200 yet.
