Thanks alot fellas for the response, I will take your advice and leave the flash/filters in the bag. I will keep it simple and only bring the camera and the 24mm/2.8 lens. I've never been in the delivery room so I don't know the lighting/rules but It makes good sense that it will be hella bright in there for the docs to see. James/Micheal, what settings were you using to take that pic?

Hi, my wife and I are expecting our first baby on June 13, I will be taking
pictures in the delivery room. Here is what I plan on bringing to take pics in
the delivery room.
Nikon d80
sb600 flash
Pocket bouncer to attach to flash
24mm 2.8 lens
I plan on using a polarizing filter to snap pics while i'm viewing my newborn
baby from behind the glass. My question is should I be attaching a polarizing
filter to the lense while i'm taking pictures during my wife's delivery when
i'm in the same room? Any tips would greatly be appreciated
thanks in advance

does anyone know if this lens is compatible with the D80? here is a link of the
actual lens http://www.bythom.com/300lens.htm . I have the fee error flashing
when I install this thing and the aperture lock doesn't seem to lock the
setting (it still moves).
Thanks in advance

I ordered a Nikon D80 to take pictures of my soon to be born baby girl on June
13, 2007. Will the flash destroy her eyes from the D80? If so can I cover it
with a coffee filter or anything else to soften the flash when taking pictures
of her? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thank in advance,
Nikon Beginner.

Hi, I have been searching for this answer in the forums but am not successful.
I have a Nikon D80 with a 18-200 vr lens. I notice in automatic mode, when you
snap a picture, both the subject and the background are sharp and clear.
However when I go to M for manual, the subject is clear and the background is
blurry (due to aperture). I have tried many different aperture but cannot get
the clarity of clear subject and background that I get in Automatic mode. Am i
not selecting a feature for this on my camera? I do know that the higher the f
number the sharper the background and the lower the f number the blurrier the
background. If anyone knows the setting to make both background and subject
clear and sharp, please explain.
many thanks
