A beautiful pose of a great animal.I can understand Mike, with f 4 you would have got a netter DOF and more out of focus background. But sometimes things happens as they go, and the clarity and sharpness on the owl is really great. Great work!

Nikon D2Xs, Nikkor 500mm, 1/1000, f 4,5, at iso 500. Overexposed +1,7LW for the whites in the image. Beanbag used.

This image was made on a trip to Spitsbergen (Svalbard) in 2009. It was

in April when the Islands are still covered with snow and surrounded by

ice. We camped in tents in these magnificent landscapes, while

temperatures where dropping to -40 Celsius. On a foggy day we

encountered a few Reindeers. I drove my snow mobile to the direction

one of them was going, stayed behind the snowmobile and made this

image.

This image was rewarded with a " Highly Honored " at the Windland

Smith Rice Awards, from Natures Best Photography in 2009.

It is a well known composition, but superb executed!! One of the best of this kind image that I have seen. gr.

I would like to have more space on the right than on the left. Than the animal has more space to look in! So to put the animal on about a third on the left to give more sense of composition. The colors are great, but the white looks a little one exposed. I don't know of this is from the exposure or the computer. Still a nice effort. gr.
