Since the trend seems to be expressing your religious zealotry towards the given pictue, I'll comply...

As an athesit, I still see some beauty in this picture. Though the merger of the head of the bowing person and the feet of Christ is distracting, it's not overly so. Though many interpret this picture as a direct representation of what this crucifiction was like, I see it more as a reflection on society... a glimpse of what mass beliefs and religious upbringings can produce- a statue of the torture and crucifiction of a man.

Whatever the intent, the photo can be improved by stronger contrast and more attention to compositition. Non the less, the image is striking and succeeds in protraying some type of religious expression (obvious given its subject), whether adherence to the religion or as a potrayal of religion's strong-hold on society and the preoccupation with religious art.

I have recently started doing macro shots. I would appreciate

feedback regarding this image and would welcome suggestions for

    improvement. Thanks in advance.

  1. I keep waiting for Alice to go dancing through the path with the Queen shouting "Off with her head!" in the background. Wonderfully done.

Re the tree- it didn't bother me until it was mentioned. If possible, try to dodge it and see if that lessons the distraction. Otherwise, well done!

  2. I really like this. The stark colors and the contrasting line through it really gives it a structured feel. Crisp and clean.

The only thing I don't like is the hard shadows. But I'm not sure if you could have captured the brightness of the colors at any other time. Overall, great shot. Would surely be a keeper in my collection.

  3. I agree! I believe a photo should stir something in the viewer. This will surely stir *something* in everyone. It would be interesting to find out just what that was for every viewer.

Technically though, I don't like that the outer models are in front of the middle model. I would like to see this with each model given a little more "breathing room." Maybe shot at a wider angle? The overlapping breasts take away from the form of the changing body. More definition between them could have helped I believe.

Overall I do like this, a lot. Congrats on getting a great shot.

  4. I really like this shot. The subject is something that is very common to most of us, but the colors here add an unexpected pop to the photo. I really like the simplicity of the composition also. I think I would like to see a similar shot, maybe fill the frame with just a couple of clothes-pins on the line. Overall though, this is a very likeable image, and quite original. Keep up the good work!

  5. I do like this shot, but it seems kind of , well, scary to me! I keep waiting for someone to swim up under her, pull her under and drown her, horror-movie-esque. Is that what you had in mind when went after dramatic? Good shot overall. Different, but appealing.

Overall it is a pretty nice shot, but I don't like the fact that the dogs legs are cut off on the bottom. You have enough negative space at the top of the photo where you could have reframed to include all of it's legs. I think that would strengthen the shot a lot. Other than that, I like it. The depth of field is just shallow enough to give the dog some "pop." The legs/missing-feet is really the only thing that bothers me.
  6. Good try, but there seems to be no defined subject. To me, I look all over the shot wondering what it is I should be looking for. I commend you for trying to set up a still life, but I think this needs a stronger, more defined, center of attention.
  7. The left side of the shot is filled with close, defined subjects, but the right side is filled with a distant, landscaped sunset. I agree with the poster above in that it would be a better shot if the two were balnced (as in the portrait crop) than the original. The two seem to be competing in the original, but not in a strong enough way to add to the shot. Good color overall, and good exposure, but I think it could be stronger.
  8. This is one of the most amazing nude shots I have ever seen. I get so bored with the b&w female-in-a-bra-type photos... this is so... well... wonderful! I love the effect, I love the pose, I love everything about it! Wonderful!!! I would, however, like to know more specifics as to how this was made... please share!

  9. There are a few things I would change if givin the opportunity. First, the gold mirror(?) on the right has nothing to do with the statue and bones. It seems like you were trying to include both subjects into one shot and it does nothing for either of them. Second, I think the verticle lines of the statue asks for a verticle shot, not horizontal. If you could have moved more to the right were the statue would be framed by the bones instead of sitting to the edge of them, it would make for a stronger composition. It seems like it would be a hard area to shoot in, and it is probably roped off which limited your ability to move around. I think it is a good snapshot for the vacation drawer, but not much more. Good try though, as I'm sure it was dificult to get even this shot.

Let me say that I do like the photograph. I agree with what everyone has to say about it. With one exception of course: My sister has almost the exact same photo hanging in her living room. I am not saying you stole someone else's work, but I do not think this qualifies for such a high originality rating when you can buy almost the same pic from Corbis.com.
