I use the camera to express moods and energy by creating images as a reference
for a more definitive and detailed narrative of emotions. IHARTphotography as a
stream of consciousness, revealing the relationships we have in our lives as it
relates to love, loss, art, and family.
I observe the relationship people have with themselves and their environment by
visually isolating ideas about relationships and then combining details to create the
illusion of a new reality not seen in the original photo.
Photographing the uniqueness of ordinary people illuminates their character and
creates a personal narrative that ignites a sense of personal and cultural identity.
Many of my photo series, whether natural or highly stylized, purposefully mimic
and/or are influenced by a range of painting styles, pop culture advertisements,
historical art, scientific documentation and categorization of African Americans and
the African Diaspora.
Immersion in the lives of the individual will guide, define, encourage, collaborate,
simplify, and enlighten the subject and photographer.
The inspirations of these relationships take form through multiple representations
and presentations via book, print, and installation created to remind you of the
relationships we share with one another and that relationship is art.
