i would go with 6x zoom, i could do more stuff with a 6x zoom than with face detection...but that just me.

Hi,

new to the forums....and also basically new to the hobby ...currently i'm just

using a Canon SD800IS point and shoot and wanting to get a dSLR....

do you guys have any recommendations on what to get....i'm saving up some money

so i won't be buying this today...but i'm looking at the sony a100 or the canon

rebels...would this be good enough for a beginning hobbyist?
