1.
Thanks Shun, Ben, they are raw files. I also tried screwing a 500D on the 28-300 and it makes for a decent macro, nice workable length and pretty sharp. The sample is in the set, a shot of a 70-200 lens . I will try sticking a tube in the mix also. Thanks

  2.
I have a PC-NIKKOR 35mm 1:2.8 also and it is a great lens. If you have this lens and the serial # is 851001 - 906200 don't put it on your d3. Also don't put the old type PC 35 f3.5 on the d3. The PC 28 f4 ser# 180900 or earlier not compatible also. This is according to Nikon in the d3 manual page 380. On my pc 35 it is very smooth and stays in place when rotated but is a tad loose. I don't know if there is any adjustment on this lens. I have read that a heavy lube, just a drop will do the trick, have not tried that yet. I have also read that this lens is great at pano's as it rotates 360 and can screwed out 11 degrees in both directions with out moving the lens. Have not tried that yet as I just got the lens.

  3. Thanks for the info. I have a chance to buy 1 with the 2 TC's for $1500.

I am not very good with manual focus on fast moving things so the

keepers would be alot less. Tempting

  4. I can't find anything on the value of this lens. Does anyone

know what a 500 with hood and metal case and a 1.4

and 2.0 nikon teleconvertors would be worth? The glass

is perfect and no dust or oil or mold. Very clean all round.

    Thanks

  5. Aleksandar,

Not to change the subject but on your picture (sky love), is that backgound a photoshop effect of your on or something like graphic authority? I like the look. great pics!

  6. Joel, I have never seen one that does 45%. You have more nerve than I do going on a kayak with your camera! Maybe if it was in a waterproof and floating underwater housing. Luck be with you!
  7. I am going to do some whale watching in somana, dominican rep. soon. They breed

there from jan to mar every year and it is said to be one of the really great

sites for whales. The boats are about 165 feet from the whales, (regulation) so

I was thinking the 70-200 would be good. I would also take the 1.7x if I needed

it. I used that combo here..http://www.jerryballard.com/superbikes.html and got

decent results. The only long lenses I have are a 300 f4 afs and the 70-200.

For full body shots at that distance the 300 seems a bit long? Any whale

watchers advise ? Will be using a d3. Thanks

  8. My guess is they wanted to create the photo look of a photo booth. The booth I am thinking of is the kind you see at fairs, malls, etc and isn't much bigger than a phone booth with a bench and curtains on each side. As many people as can cram into the booth get a series of pics that come out after putting in your dollar or ?. Last time I used one the pics were b&w and you got 4 or 5 not much bigger than a 35mm slide. I guess a wide up close and set pic to b&w and not real good quality, maybe jpeg basic, would get you something like those.

I don't remember what the background was, probably just white.
