... Wet plate collodion portrait of my mother and my daughter. My daughter
is softly blurred, still undefined ... a life ahead ... while my mother seems
to be fading in the background... an emotional image for me...

....Thank you so much for stopping by and taking the time to comment. Your thoughts and impressions are much appreciated....and yes it's true what you said about the parallel (albeit very different styles) I didn't realise...

Well, I will have to disagree with Allan here. The background does it? Yeah, right! Let's face it, what does it, is first and foremost the model...but as Mark mentioned, the pose, lighting and color work very well together....also the slightly lower angle of the shoot... There's only one thing: the blue spot next to her eye keeps bothering me. You photograph beautiful women, that's for sure, but more importantly you photograph them beautifully...

She must be the most photographed granny in La Havana (I've seen her many times)....and quite a character too... Superb portrait!

Simply lovely!

I'm working with a no-ether formula for the moment ( I use only alcohol to prepare the Collodion) as I had to get rid of my ether this summer when I moved house. But I've got to say that I, for one, like the smell of ether! Back in the 19th century they used to organise ether parties (ether frolics)! I wouldn't go that far though!
I would love to try Daguerrotypes one day, but as a one off in a workshop. Already storing all these chemicals for the Collodion gives me willies having kids in the house...

LOL!!!!!! you got it! Although by now I've got them well trained and it would be the other way round: "Smile! Or....." ( if I ever wanted to do one of those!)
